See Picks & Statistics For The GameThee Astros and White Sox are nodded at 1-1 in their three game series. Sunday night will decide a series winner, and for the Astros, they are hoping another home series doesn’t end up a loss.
Both teams are 5-5 in their last 10 games, as they took turns beating up on each other in the first two games. White Sox pitching was lights out yesterday, allowing only 3 hits and shutting out the AL West leaders on the road.
For the Astros, they got their worst performance of the season from Justin Verlander. He lasted a season-low 3.2 innings and gave up 7 runs on 9 hits.
The Astros will hope to bounce back as the favorites on Sunday night. With a loss, that would wrap up a 3rd straight home series loss for a team that started out the season more than dominant at home.

Kopech vs. Javier
In the last 10 games, the Astros’ ERA is 3.24 and they have outscored opponents by seven runs. The White Sox’s ERA is a bit higher in that stretch at 4.45. However, their offense has done the job, as they have outscored opponents by 14 runs.
Michael Kopech will take the mound as the starter tonight for the Sox. He has been cleared of a knee injury, so the team leader in ERA will have a shot to give the White Sox their second consecutive series victory.
Cristian Javier is on the hill for the Astros. He has not recorded a win since May 25 when he did not allow a run through 5.2 innings against the Guardians.
Kopech has two victories this season. Both of those games were against division leaders who are competing for the #1 spot. He dealt against the Yankees and Dodgers, allowing only one hit to both teams and no runs. In 5 of the last 6 starts, Kopech has allowed 2 hits or less.
Javier has had different paths to victory. He has not allowed less than three hits in a game since May 8 against the Tigers. In his last victory on May 25, Javier didn’t allow a run and struck out 9. He has 4 or more strikeouts in every start this season.
Kopech has one career appearance against the Astros. He came in for 1 inning of relief, striking out 1 batter and not allowing a baserunner. Javier has no career experience against the Sox as he will make his first start against the team on Sunday.
Chicago White Sox vs. Houston Astros Prediction and Best Bets
White Sox vs. Astros Prediction: White Sox to win
White Sox vs. Astros Best Bets: White Sox ML (+140 at Bovada Sportsbook)
Thee Astros are struggling at home, losing 5 of their last 8 at Minute Maid Park. The White Sox are 4-1 on their current road trip that will end after their matchup tonight.
Kopech is the better pick for starting pitcher tonight. The right-hander will be fresh off of his knee injury scare, and he will be ready for game action. Javier has given up too many hits, and even though his strikeout rate is high, the contact that opponents are making is too much to overcome.
Take the underdog tonight, as it provides the best value. The White Sox have a winning record on the road, and they have a chance to make it back-to-back series victories.
