The Cubs have won 6 of their L9 games and look ready to string a few more together.
The Cubs and Twins are both currently fighting for Wild Card spots in their own respective leagues so these games hold that much more significance to each squad.
The Twins are currently a half game ahead in the Wild Card race and 4.5 games back of the lead in the AL Central. The Guardians hold the lead there and look to maintain control going into this last month of the summer.
The Cubs, on the other side, have won 6 of their last 9 games and now sit just 6 games behind in the Wild Card. With a push here to end the summer, the Cubs might really have the post-season set in their sites.

In just his third year, Wallner has found a way to increase his numbers every season. He’s played in just 30 games so far this year, but he’s posted a 0.257 batting average with 6 home runs (0.698 SLG) and 14 RBI.
Wallner’s batting 0.200 against lefties this year but that jumps to 0.266 against right handed pitchers. He’s got 6 home runs and all 6 have come against right handed pitchers and 5 of them have come on the road.
Wallner’s posted a 0.275 batting average when away from Target Field and he’s got a 0.667 SLG on the road. Tonight he gets Kyle Hendricks who has been bad this year. He’s 3-9 on the seaosn through 15 starts, posting a 6.86 ERA and letting lefties hit 0.308.
Hendricks has surrendered 17 home runs and 12 have been against left handed bats. He’s been bad and tonight at Wrigley Field, I’m expecting more of the same.
