Royals vs Yankees Predictions & MLB Picks Today (9/11)
After the Yankees opened the series with a win, the Royals got revenge in the form of Tuesday’s 5-0 shutout victory. Salvador led the charge with a pair of RBI singles while RHP Seth Lugo struck out 10 New York batters across seven innings to improve to 16-8 on the 2024 season.
Having said that, the road victory was a rare one for the visitors. After all, the Royals had lost six consecutive road games by an average of 3.3 runs per outing before yesterday’s effort. Additionally, they’re only 2-9 SU on their last 11 visits to Yankee Stadium, leaving time to tell if the win was a fluke or not.
On the flip side, the Yankees have now lost three of their last four home games while being outscored 29-22 on aggregate. The encouraging thing for New York regarding a potential bounce-back showing is that it’s 23-7 SU against the AL Central this season, whereas the Royals own an uninspiring 14-17 SU record against AL East clubs.
The Royals haven’t had much luck against AL East teams this season despite last night’s win.
The Royals are starting LHP Cole Ragans as they seek the series victory. The 26-year-old southpaw has plenty of momentum on his side after racking up seven strikeouts across six scoreless innings during last week’s victory over the Minnesota Twins.
Interestingly enough, the Yankees have struggled against left-handed hurlers all season (18-23 SU).
As for New York, veteran righty Luis Gil draws the start. Much like Ragans, Gil is also coming off a shutout win which involved seven Ks in six innings against the Chicago White Sox on Sept. 6. Considering that he has a 2.85 ERA in his last eight starts, we could be in for a low-scoring affair at Yankee Stadium.
Does Yankees RHP Luis Gil have what it takes to notch another victory?
I’m backing the Yankees to win tonight after falling to the Royals yesterday. New York has had Kansas City’s number at home for years now and I expect another strong start from Gil to help them get back on track. The fact that today is also 9/11 could further motivate the Yankees to send the crowd home happy.
With that in mind, let’s also take the Under on the 8-run total. The Under is 4-1 in New York’s last five games as well as 5-1 in Kansas City’s previous six. With five of the last eight tilts between these teams also falling short of their projected point totals, I don’t expect much offense tonight.

Best Royals vs Yankees MLB Player Prop (9/11)
There are some solid Royals vs. Yankees props available on BetOnline, including Cole Ragans o6.5 total strikeouts (-132).
Ragans heads into tonight’s showdown with an American League-leading 11.0 strikeouts per nine innings. The former 2016 first-rounder has also finished with the Over on this prop in five of his last six starts, averaging 7.5 Ks per outing along the way. Additionally, he finished with 10 strikeouts in his last road appearance (Aug. 31 vs. Astros).
Considering how the Yankees have struck out the 12th-most times against lefties this season, Ragans should finish with the Over regardless of whether the Royals win or lose.
Best Royals vs. Yankees Prop Bet: Cole Ragans o6.5 Total Strikeouts (-132)
