See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe Padres hold a 2-1 lead in the series after splitting the double header yesterday. Sunday afternoon, the teams will wrap up their 4 game set and get ready to travel again.
The Padres have played well lately, winning 7 of their last 9 games, and they are getting great numbers from their starting pitching. Starting pitcher Joe Musgrove is leading the league in ERA at 1.50. He is undefeated in his 11 starts, and is on track to be a Cy Young favorite in the National League.
San Diego will send Blake Snell to the mound on Sunday with one goal in mind: Get Snell into the win column. He is 0-3 this season in 4 starts, and has only lasted 19 innings. He got a late start to the season, coming back from a groin injury, but he has a favorable matchup against the Rockies.
Colorado has not played well in June. They are 4-8 with a combined ERA of 6.33. They also gave up 8 or more runs in 5 of those 12 games. They will have yet another tough test in the finale of their 7 game road trip.
According to BetOnline, the Padres are heavy favorites to win in the finale and take the 4 game series at home.

Can Blake Snell Deliver for San Diego?
Snell is the only starter for San Diego without a win this season. In his 4 starts, he has had to face the New York Mets, St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies, and Milwaukee Brewers. Three of those teams are currently leading their division, or competing for a division title.
Since returning from injury, Snell has not had an easy start. He has lasted 6 innings only once, and he hasn’t been given run support in close games. On May 31, he had his best start of the year, tossing 6 innings against the Cardinals while only allowing 2 hits. However the team still ended up losing the game 3-2 in 10 innings.
Even though Snell didn’t lead his team to the win, he still showed the capability to pitch in a tightly competitive National League. Since making the transition from the Rays to the Padres, Snell is 7-9 in 31 starts. Compared to his 2018 season where he finished 21-5, it has been a different sight.
Sunday will give Snell the opportunity against a struggling team, and the pitching matchup favors the 6’ 4” southpaw.
Colorado Rockies vs. San Diego Padres Prediction and Best Bets
Rockies vs. Padres Prediction: Padres to win
Rockies vs. Padres Best Bets: Padres ML (-175 at Bovada Sportsbook)
Snell gets an easier start, and the Padres have played well on offense in their last 10 games. The team faces Germán Márquez who has a 6.49 ERA and hasn’t given up less than 3 runs in each of his last 10 starts.
Because of the double header yesterday, the teams have not had much time to rest before this early afternoon start time. The pitching should take center stage today, and the game will be close.
Look for Snell to pitch well as he finally gets run support early in the game. We are looking at the best chance Snell has had to get back in the win column, as a struggling Rockies team is at the end of their 7 game road trip.
