See Picks & Statistics For The GameSweeps have been a theme of the last two series for the Colorado Rockies, but they will hope that trend ends for their benefit in today’s series finale against the Miami Marlins.
After being swept at home by the Cleveland Guardians last week, Colorado turned around and swept the San Diego Padres at Coors Field last weekend. After losing the first two games of their series in Miami, the Rockies will be looking to avoid the sweep and salvage something from their trip to south Florida.
Each of the first two games has not been short on offense, but will that continue this afternoon?

Can Freeland Get His Third Straight Win?
June hasn’t been a particularly great month for the Rockies, who are just 8-13 this month and find themselves last in the NL West after being over .500 a little over a month ago.
But it has been a positive month for Freeland, who is 2-0 with a 3.15 ERA in three stars and comes into this matchup with back-to-back wins over the San Diego Padres.
After going six or more innings in only three of his first ten starts, Freeland has gone seven, six, and seven in his three starts this month.
If he can get through at least six again today, it will likely be a positive sign for the Rockies. This season, Colorado is 5-1 when Freeland has gone at least six, while they are 2-5 when he hasn’t, and all three of his wins have come when he’s hit or exceeded that number.
Colorado Rockies vs. Miami Marlins Prediction and Best Bets
Rockies vs. Marlins Prediction: Rockies to win
Rockies vs. Marlins Best Bets: Rockies ML (+120 at Bovada Sportsbook, MyBookie & BetMGM), Rockies/Marlins UNDER 8.5 (-118 at BetOnline) & Marlins team total under 4 runs (+106 at BetOnline)
Colorado has been pretty good about avoiding sweeps this season, even on the road, where they have struggled the most. To date, the only road sweeps for the Rockies have come at the hands of the Phillies and Giants.
Freeland’s on a solid run right now, and he has better numbers on the road (3.00 ERA in five road starts vs. 5.32 ERA in eight home starts). Among the pitchers who have logged starts for Colorado this season, the next-best road ERA belongs to Chad Kuhl, who has a 4.39 ERA in eight road starts.
While there have been double-digit runs in each of the first two games of the series (and in four of five head-to-head matchups between Colorado and Miami this season), the under is the better bet for the series finale.
Along with the form that Freeland has been in, each of Garrett’s first three MLB starts–which were a trial by fire against the Giants (5-1 loss), Astros (5-1 win), and Mets (3-2 loss) –have been lower-scoring games.
Trends actually favor the over, which is 12-7-1 when the Marlins have been a home favorite and 19-11-1 in the Marlins’ home games.
But if the Rockies win with Freeland on the mound, as we are picking here, a lower-scoring game, at least for the Marlins, is the likeliest result. When he has started and the Rockies have won, the opponent has scored four or fewer runs six times, including all three of his credited wins.
