See Picks & Statistics For The GameAround the U.S., temperatures are heating up as we head towards the summer. And on the diamond, the Boston Red Sox are heating up after a slow start to the season.
Two weeks ago, the boys from Beantown were ice cold at 10-19. But they have won 9 of 12 since and head into their series in the Windy City with a five-game winning streak.
The White Sox have been up and down this season and are still searching for that streak that will carry them past the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central, which they were expected to dominate again this season after winning the division by 13 games last season.
But they enter this series after taking two of three on the road against the New York Yankees, and they will look to carry the momentum from their series win in the Bronx into a strong series against another AL East opponent.

Will Recent Scoring Trend Continue for Red Sox?
When these two teams met at Fenway Park earlier this month, all three games, all of which were won by the reigning AL Central champions, were low scoring.
Tonight’s starters matched up in the second game of that series, a 3-1, 10-inning White Sox win on May 7.
Pivetta tossed six shutout innings against the White Sox earlier this month and has a 1.71 ERA in four May starts after posting an 8.27 ERA in four April starts. Cease, meanwhile, allowed one run in five innings.
But at the time, Boston was in the midst of a run of scoring only 21 runs in 10 games, and Chicago was in the midst of a run of scoring 32 runs in 10 games, so neither was exactly thriving offensively at that time.
In Boston’s first 29 games this season, eight or more combined runs were scored in just 12 games. But in the 12 games that make up their current hot streak, eight or more combined runs have been scored in all but one game.
A recent uptick in their own scoring has been a big contributor. In their first 29 games, the Red Sox scored just 95 runs, an average of only 3.28 runs per game. But in their last dozen games, they have scored 79 runs, an average of 6.58 runs per game. In their current win streak alone, Boston has scored 38 runs.
The White Sox still aren’t producing as potently at the plate as they were expected to this season, but they did score 13 runs in three games against the Yankees.
That is the second-most runs any team has scored against the Yankees in a three-game series this season (the Baltimore Orioles scored 15 in a three-game series at Yankee Stadium last month).
Boston Red Sox vs. Chicago White Sox Prediction and Best Bets
Red Sox vs. White Sox Prediction: White Sox to win
Red Sox vs. White Sox Best Bets: White Sox ML (Best Value: -155 at Bovada Sportsbook), White Sox team total over 4 runs (-102 at BetOnline) & OVER 7 (-110 at Bovada Sportsbook)
The Red Sox and their bats are heating up, which is a positive sign for their outlook going forward. They weren’t penciled in as one of the top AL pennant hopefuls, but they were expected to be in the MLB playoff mix, and those hopes are trending up right now.
But their winning streak will come to an end tonight in Chicago against Cease, MLB’s leader in strikeouts with 67, and the White Sox. As well as they are playing right now, they still have only one series win thus far this season against teams who are currently .500 or better.
Expect All-Star shortstop Tim Anderson to continue his torrid run tonight for the White Sox.
Anderson is 10 for 17 with a homer and six RBI in his last four games, all of which have been multi-hit games. In May, he is hitting .397 with two homers and 11 RBI in 18 games, and 10 of those 18 games have been multi-hit games.
At BetUS, Anderson is +210 to go over 1.5 hits, and at BetOnline, you can back him at +750 to have three or more hits for the seventh time this month. Given how hot he is at the moment, that is exceptional value, and so is backing him to go over 0.5 singles tonight.
That option is -145 at Bovada Sportsbook, so that isn’t the same level of value as the other two bets, but it is still exceptional value considering that 26 of his 31 hits this month have been singles.
