Rays vs Blue Jays Predictions & MLB Picks Today (7/25)
After dropping the series opener, the Blue Jays responded with a hard-fought 6-3 win over the Rays last night. The game was tied 2-2 late in the game until Toronto exploded for four runs in the eighth inning, which was all the home club needed to seal the victory.
Now, the AL East rivals will have a rematch to decide the series winner. The season-long battle between these teams has been fairly even thus far as Tampa Bay owns five victories to Toronto’s four. Having said that, neither club has consistently found success against the division this season. The Rays are 15-21 SU (41.7%) vs. the AL East whereas the Jays are 13-17 SU (43.3%) in that regard.
Nevertheless, playing at Rogers Centre hasn’t been an issue for Kevin Cash’s club. The Rays are 5-2 SU on their last seven trips to Toronto while averaging 5.3 runs per game.
The Rays love taking on the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre.
Nevertheless, it’ll be interesting to see how the Rays perform given that they have a 51.6% win percentage as the road underdog in 2024 (8th). At the same time, the Blue Jays own a 55.9% success rate as the home favorite (17th). Additionally, Toronto is only 11-23 ATS in those matchups.
That negative trend will continue if Blue Jays RHP Chris Bassitt doesn’t turn his performance around. The former All-Star hurler has pitched to a 6.48 ERA while allowing a .290/.380/.406 slash line in his last three starts. Toronto has also won just two of Bassitt’s last eight starts.
Did I mention that he’s also just 1-4 in seven career games (6 starts) against Tampa Bay?
Meanwhile, the Rays are countering Bassitt with Taj Bradley, who’s been nearly unhittable for over a month. The 23-year-old righty is 4-1 in his last eight starts, holding opponents to a 0.92 ERA while limiting them to a .170 batting average. He allowed two or fewer runs in each of those starts, which includes four scoreless appearances.
Will the Blue Jays be able to stop Rays RHP Taj Bradley’s impressive run?
With the series on the line, I’m taking the Rays to win the finale. The Blue Jays can’t be trusted with Bassitt on the mound, whereas Bradley starting typically means tremendous things for the Rays. Looking for revenge for yesterday’s loss, expect Tampa Bay to emerge victorious this afternoon.
As for the best bet, I’ll stick with the Rays on the moneyline. At the end of the day, Tampa Bay is the clear-cut better team, so you can’t go wrong by chasing some plus-money here.

Best Rays vs Blue Jays MLB Player Prop (7/25)
If you’re looking to pounce on a Rays vs. Blue Jays player prop, I recommend going with Chris Bassitt o2.5 earned runs (+122).
Again, Bassitt has been struggling lately and has surrendered at least a trio of earned runs in each of his last three starts. The Over is also 3-2 in his last five starts at Rogers Centre — a stretch where he tallied a 4.40 ERA. If that isn’t convincing enough, Bassitt has also allowed seven earned runs on 11 hits in two starts against the Rays this season, finishing with the Over in both instances.
With the Rays knowing how to up their play when they visit Toronto, I expect a rough outing for the former Akron product.
