The Angels are coming off a series victory in Chicago against the White Sox that included a 12-5 victory last night. The Angels bats were clearly hot as they had 5 Home Runs from 4 different players. Shohei Ohtani had two 2-run shots.

Tonight they travel to Texas to take on the Houston Astros at home. These division rivals are 2nd and 3rd in the AL West at the moment. The Astros took 2 out of 3 at home earlier in the year, and now the Angels are back in town for some redemption.

Both of these teams play about the same as they do on the road, so let’s dive into some betting angles.

Frambler Valdez over 5.5 Strikeouts (-152) BetOnline

Now again, this one is juicy but for good reason.

Valdez has cleared this line in 7/11 games this season, including two games with 5 strikeouts. At home, he’s cleared in 5/7 starts this year, including 3 straight with 8, 8, and 7 Ks each.

If Valdez had one more strikeout last start, he would’ve cleared this number in 5 straight games, but 40 Ks in his last 5 starts is nothing to be shy about. The man tears it up.

He already started one game against this Angels squad. Valdez struckout 12 batters in 8 innings. He has the stamina to go late into games, and at home against this team, I expect him to have another great start.

I’ll be targeting his ladder as well.

Jeremy Pena over 1.5 Hits, Runs & RBIs (-145)

Now this category is only found on a few books, but it is worth seeking out.

Pena clears this line in 54% of home games this season, and has hit in 4 of his L5. He bats better against lefties whom he is facing today. Reid Detmers has not recorded a win yet this season, and is posting nearly a 5.00 ERA.

In his career, Pena lights it up against Detmers. In 8 Plate appearances, Pena is batting .571 with 4 hits, 1 2B, an RBI and a walk. He clearly sees the ball well and loves hitting against this guy.

I’ll lay the juice and bet on Pena to keep the heater going.
