Phillies vs Mets Game 3 Predictions & MLB Picks Today (10/8)
After losing the NLDS opener, the Phillies tied up the series with a hard-fought 7-6 victory in Game 2. After New York tied the game 6-6 at the top of the ninth inning, Philadelphia first baseman Bryce Harper scored the walk-off run off an RBI single from Nick Castellanos, giving the Phillies some much-needed momentum as the series shifts to Citi Field.
Unfortunately, Queens hasn’t been the most inviting destination for Rob Thomson’s club. After all, the Phillies have dropped 16 of their last 20 trips to Citi Field, which includes a 1-3 SU record on their last four visits this season. In fact, Philadelphia is just 2-6 SU in its last eight road games overall dating back to the regular season.
Conversely, the Mets are an impressive 12-2 SU across their last 14 home games. They also own a plus-2.6 average run margin during that stretch, showing how lopsided some of those outings were.
It’s worth pointing out that the Mets are 12-11 SU (52.2%) as the home underdogs this season whereas the Phillies are 27-26 SU (50.9%) as the road favorites.
Will the Mets successfully defend Citi Field in Game 3?
The Mets have scored six runs in back-to-back games to begin the NLDS, meaning the Phillies are hoping RHP Aaron Nola can put a stop to that trend.
Nola was terrific throughout the regular season, going 14-8 with a 3.57 ERA across an MLB-leading 33 starts. He also pitched a complete game shutout at Citi Field as the Phillies defeated the Mets 4-0 on May 14.
As for the Mets, they’re turning back to LHP Sean Manaea, who allowed two runs on six hits across five innings in a loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Oct. 2. Much to his dismay, Manaea hasn’t seen much success against the Phillies, having pitched to a 1-3 record and 7.66 ERA in his last six encounters with NL East rival.
Will the Phillies’ batters be able to take advantage of Mets LHP Sean Manaea’s recent struggles against the franchise?
In what should be another close NLDS matchup, I’m taking the Phillies to win Game 3. Even if they haven’t had much recent luck at Citi Field, momentum is on the Phillies’ side right now. They’ve also proven that they can beat up on Manaea, which I expect to happen again now that his confidence is shot.
When it comes to the best bet, let’s just stick with the Phillies on the moneyline.

Best Phillies vs Mets Game 3 Player Prop (10/8)
I’m predicting a big night from Aaron Nola. That’s why I’m going with the Over on his 5.5-strikeout total (-112) for the best Phillies vs. Mets NLDS Game 3 player prop.
Nola was extremely consistent regarding this prop bet toward the end of the 2024 MLB regular season. In his last seven starts (40 innings), the former 2014 first-rounder racked up 50 strikeouts (7.1 per appearance) while finishing with the Over on this prop six times. That includes when he struck out seven Mets batters across 4 1/3 innings on Sept. 13.
The Over is also 8-2 across Nola’s last 10 encounters against the Mets with five of those instances occurring at Citi Field. In other words, you’ll want to smash the Over on this prop tonight.
