Saturday’s Best MLB Picks
With all 30 teams playing on Saturday, the MLB slate can be a little daunting. We’ve done our best to pinpoint the best spots to look at, and even placed a few bets ourselves.
San Francisco Giants @ Detroit Tigers
Matchup Information

Runline
- San Francisco Giants -1.5 (+108)
- Detroit Tigers +1.5 (-130)
Moneyline
- San Francisco Giants -148
- Detroit Tigers +126
Total
- Over 8.5 (-122)
- Under 8.5 (+100)
Pitching Matchup
- (SF) Anthony DeSclafani (1-0, 0.73 ERA)
- (DET) Michael Lorenzen (First Start)
The Tigers took the first game of the series 7-5 last night, but today they face a stud on the mound.
In two starts, DeSclafani has pitched 12.1 innings, given up just 1 earned run, and totaled 11 strikeouts, including 7 last time on the bump. Detroit is 2nd to last in Runs, Hits, and On Base Percentage. They also rank last in batting average and slugging percentage. It could be a rough day at the plate for the home team.
Lorenzen is making his first start as a member of the Tigers. In 18 starts last year with the Angels, he posted an 8-6 record, with a 4.24 ERA and 85 strikeouts. It will be interesting to see how he fairs against a Giants offense that ranks 10th in hits, 6th in slugging percentage, and 3rd in home-runs.
I have bet the Giants -1.5 at +108 on BetOnline.
Milwaukee Brewers @ San Diego Padres
Matchup Information
- Venue & Location: PETCO Park (San Diego, CA)

Betting Odds

Runline
- Milwaukee Brewers +1.5 (-176)
- San Diego Padres -1.5 (+146)
Moneyline
- Milwaukee Brewers +124
- San Diego Padres -146
Total
- Over 8 (-110)
- Under 8 (-110)
Pitching Matchup
- (MIL) Freddy Peralta (2-0, 0.75 ERA)
- (SD) Seth Lugo (2-0, 1.39 ERA)
The Brewers absolutely handled the Padres last night beating them 11-2. Tonight is going to be a battle of the pitchers as two guys face off who have had great starts to the season.
For the Brewers, Freddy Peralta has gone six innings in both of his outings. He’s given up a combined 1 ER and just 6 hits in 12 innings, while posting 7 strikeouts in each game. Today is a road test against some scary hitters such as Manny Machado, Xander Bogaerts, and Nelson Cruz. Juan Soto is also in the lineup, but only has a .189 Avg this year.
Seth Lugo starts for the Padres after starting the season 2-0. In 13 innings, he has 12 strikeouts, 9 hits allowed, and has only given up 1 earned run in each game. The Brewers bats were hot last night, but I think Seth Lugo can sit them down today.
I think we see a battle of the pitchers in a low scoring game today.
I have booked under 8 at -110 on BetOnline.
Atlanta Braves @ Kansas City Royals
Matchup Information
- Venue & Location: Kauffman Stadium (Kansas City, MO)
- First Pitch: 4:10PM Eastern
- Broadcast: Bally Sports KC
Betting Odds
Odds courtesy of BetOnline.
Runline
- Atlanta Braves -1.5 (+114)
- Kansas City Royals +1.5 (-137)
Moneyline
- Atlanta Braves -136
- Kansas City Royals +116
Total
- Over 8.5 (-114)
- Under 8.5 (-106)
Pitching Matchup
- (ATL) Bryce Elder (1-0, 0.00 ERA)
- (KC) Kris Bubic (0-1, 1.64 ERA)
The Braves had a bit of a home-run derby last night in KC, and I lean towards something similar happening this afternoon.
Bryce Elder has not given up a run in two starts and 12.1 innings. He’s only given up 8 hits and 4 walks, while striking out 13 batters. The Royals will struggle against him today, ranking last in hits and On Base Percentage, and 29th in Batting Average.
Kris Bubic has looked solid in both of his starts, but did not get any offensive help. The Braves lineup is loaded with guys hitting above .300 this year. Ronald Acuña Jr., Matt Olson, and Austin Riley all fit that category.
The Royals bats need to start helping Bubic out, but I think it’s a lost cause today. The Braves batters are stacked and excelled at Kaufman last night.
I like the Braves to win today and have booked the ML at -135.
