It’s finally that time.
The 2023 MLB All Star Game is upon us once again, and we are in for another star-studded showdown. The Home Run Derby took place last night, but the big game is happening today!
The National League takes on the American League on the Midsummer Classic.

2023 MLB All Star Game Starting Lineups
Like I said, star studded lineups.
MLB All Star Game History
Now, this game used to have real implications, but that all changed in 2017.
From 2003 until 2017, the winner of the MLB All Star Game would have home field advantage during the World Series. Prior to 2003, the leagues would simply alternate.
Since then, home field is determined by regular season records, and while that does make sense, it takes away some of the meaning of this All Star Game. This rule was also unique to Major League Baseball and helped set themselves apart.
Alas, now the All Star Game is just that, a ball game featuring the best of the best.
As always, it will be plenty entertaining!

I think said trend continues tonight.
2023 All Star Game Predictions
Unfortunately the guy pictured above is injured and will not partake in the All Star Game, however I think his American League teammates will fill in nicely.
Let’s look at a few trends.
- The American League has won nine straight All Star Games (2013-2022, no ASG in 2020)
- The AL has also won 16 of the last 19 ASG since 2002.
- The AL is leading the all-time series 47-43-2
Simply put, this event is dominated by the American League.
With Shohei Ohtani and five Texas Rangers starting for the AL, I think this is definitely their game to win.
I’ll take the American League at -110 all day for some fun.
