Wednesday’s MLB schedule begins at 12:10 p.m. ET as the Seattle Mariners (45-37) and Tampa Bay Rays (40-40) close out their series at Tropicana Field.
The Rays are in a position to sweep the Mariners following Tuesday’s massive 11-3 victory. The game was all tied up at 2-2 until the floodgates opened in the sixth inning as Tampa Bay outscored Seattle 9-1 in the final four frames to secure the win.
Can Seattle salvage the series with a victory? Or will Tampa Bay prove that it can complete the sweep?

Mariners vs Rays Predictions & MLB Picks Today (6/26)
All eyes are on the Rays to see if they can pull off the sweep this afternoon. While things always haven’t looked good for them this season, they’ve turned things around as of late going 7-2 SU across their last nine outings while outscoring those opponents by an average of 2.2 runs per game.
The Rays have dominated the Mariners throughout this series, outscoring them 15-6 in the first two games. A lot of Tampa Bay’s production has come later in the game, putting up 12 runs in the last four innings of each contest whereas Seattle only scored two during those stretches.
The Mariners have frustrated their fans throughout the last two weeks. Although Scott Servais’s club still sits atop the AL West, its grip is beginning to fade following six losses in its last seven outings.
A big part of the Mariners’ skid is that their bats just aren’t producing. They only averaged 3.6 runs during that stretch while being held to three or fewer five times.
The Mariners need their bats to wake up if they want to end their slump.
The good news for the Mariners is that Rays RHP Ryan Pepiot has been fairly average this season, pitching to a 4.61 ERA in 13 starts. The 26-year-old is also in a bit of a slump of his own, having allowed 11 earned runs and five homers on 18 hits across in his last three starts, failing to make it beyond the fifth frame in two of those appearances.
Meanwhile, Seattle’s George Kirby has been excellent. The former All-Star righty has gone five consecutive starts without allowing more than two earned runs, going 2-0 with a 1.74 ERA while averaging 9.3 strikeouts per nine innings.
With that being said, I’m taking the Mariners to emerge victorious this afternoon. While the Rays have been the better team early in this set, the Mariners are due to break out of their slump and I see that happening against Pepiot, who’s struggling to stay in games.
As for the best bet, it has to be the Over on the 7-run total. The last five Mariners-Rays matchups featured a combined average of 10.6 runs with each contest finishing with no fewer than seven. Additionally, the Over is 9-2 in Seattle’s last 11 road games.

Best Mariners vs Rays MLB Player Prop (6/26)
There are a few Mariners vs. Rays plus-money props I like this afternoon, including Ty France to record 2+ total bases (+131).
Although France has been in a bit of a slump lately, he appears to be on the upswing after crushing a 427-foot home run last night. The former 2015 34th-rounder will look to keep his momentum going against Ryan Pepiot, who’s been bleeding hits and home runs in his last few starts. Fortunately for France, he’s hitting well against righties this season, which includes 15 of his 19 extra-base hits.
With the Mariners desperate to win, look for France to show up in a big way.
