See Picks & Statistics For The GameLast Sunday, Alex Faedo held his own opposite former AL Cy Young winner Shane Bieber to get his first MLB win. This afternoon, he’ll look to do so again to get his first home win as the Detroit Tigers host the Cleveland Guardians.
Six days ago, Faedo picked up his first big league win in his fourth start, allowing two runs in 5.1 innings as the Tigers downed the Guardians 4-2 in Cleveland.
Yesterday’s game was postponed due to inclement weather, but in Thursday’s series opener, the Tigers walked it off, with Miguel Cabrera capping a three-hit night with a game-winning RBI single to deliver a 4-3 win.

Bieber Seeks Rewards for Solid Stretch of Road Starts
After entering this season as a top AL Cy Young candidate, 2020 winner Bieber has dropped from the top tier of the race after the first month and a half of the season.
But he has only one truly bad outing among his first eight starts, when he allowed seven runs, eight hits, and three walks in just 3.1 innings in a home loss to the Toronto Blue Jays three weeks ago. In his other seven starts, he has a 2.34 ERA and 46 strikeouts and has allowed 35 hits and 11 walks in 42.1 innings.
He has been at his best on the road, where he is 0-1 with a 2.45 ERA in five starts. In 29.1 innings, he has has 29 strikeouts and has allowed 25 hits, nine runs (eight earned), and nine walks.
Bieber enters this start with three consecutive quality starts on the road. In his last road start two weeks ago, he allowed one run, seven hits, and three walks and struck out seven in six innings. He received a no-decision, but the Guardians downed the Minnesota Twins 3-2 in 10 innings.
When he matched up against Faedo last Sunday, he pitched well overall, striking out 10 and allowing three runs (two earned), six hits, and two walks in seven innings. But for the sixth time in his eight starts, the Guardians scored three or fewer runs.
Cleveland Guardians vs. Detroit Tigers Prediction and Best Bets
Guardians vs. Tigers Prediction: Guardians to win
Guardians vs. Tigers Best Bets: UNDER 7.5 (-122 at BetOnline)
This is a position that Cleveland has been in infrequently this season, but they are 5-1 as a road favorite in 2022. Detroit, meanwhile, is 3-6 as a home underdog thus far this season.
As was the case last Sunday, there won’t be many runs in this afternoon’s matchup at Comerica Park. But Cleveland has not lost back-to-back Bieber starts since August 2019, and while he has yet to record a road win this season, the Guardians have won three of his last four road starts.
The value isn’t particularly ideal for a matchup between two teams with losing records, but things line up well for the Guardians to be a solid pick here.
The best value, however, is with the under. There have been seven or fewer runs in eight of Cleveland’s last ten games, while there have been seven or fewer runs in 29 of Detroit’s 44 games (65.9 percent) this season, including 10 of their past 12.
