Diamondbacks @ Dodgers Breakdown & Best Bets
The Diamondbacks and Dodgers have met 10 times this season, splitting the series right down the middle, five games a piece. In those 10 games, we saw an average of 9.1 runs scored
Let’s talk about the pitching matchup. NL CY Candidate, Zac Gallen vs. the young, Bobby Miller.
Miller has been great for the Dodgers this season, posting a 6-3 record and a 3.86 ERA. He’s been good at limiting the long ball, giving up just 0.77 HR/9; in addition to limiting contact in general, only giving up 7.71 hits/9.
Gallen has been phenomenal this season going 14-5 with a 3.11 ERA, he currently leads the league in home wins (11-1) and is giving up just 0.86 HR/9 & 7.71 hits/9.
The issues for both these pitchers this season has been their home and away splits. Gallen, 11-1/1.79ERA @ home vs 3-4/4.46 on the road. Miller, 2-2/5.17 @ home vs 4-1/2.70 on the road.
Gallen thrives in his home stadium, while on the other side, we’ve seen Miller struggle at Dodger stadium. Feeling like we could see some more offense in this divisional matchup today.
Zac Gallen o5.5 Strikeouts (+120)
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Gallen came through for us last week in a great matchup with the Padres, while his road splits do scare me, its a big game and the DBacks are gonna need their Ace to step up.
Gallen’s recorded 6+ strikeouts in 5 of his L6 games, 5+ strikeouts in 9 of his L10; with six of these games being on the road. He’s averaging 6.6Ks/game in his L10 games and recorded 7 strikeouts in just 4.2 IP earlier this year in LA.
He’s currently got a 2.88 career ERA vs. the Dodgers, and has had 6+ strikeouts in 7 of the 10 matchups; he’s also struck out the Dodgers top 4 batters a combined 19 times in just 60 combined ABs.
If you still need more, Gallen’s currently 5-1 vs NL West; 2.72 ERA averaging 6.4 Ks/game.
They Diamondbacks can’t afford to lose game w the Giants and Reds so close behind in the Wild Card race, so I’m expecting Gallen to go 6+ innings and get us all six strikeouts.
Bonus Sprinkle: Z. Gallen 8+ Strikeouts (+360)
Corbin Carroll o1.5 HRR (-130)
Carroll is having one of the best sophmore years we’ve seen in recent memory. He’s batting 0.281 with 22 home runs, 64 RBI and 95 Runs scored.
Over his L5 games he’s upped those numbers to o.533 with 2 triples, a double, and a home run. He also nearly had an inside the park home run, if it wasn’t for Elly’s cannon of an arm.
I’m staying here with the hot hand, despite the tough matchup. Carrol’s batting 0.280 in the month of August, 0.284 on the road, and 0.282 with a 0.570 SLG vs RHP.
Monday Night Baseball in the City of Angels, let’s have some fun.
Bonus Sprinkle: C. Carroll 1+ RBI (+210)
