See Picks & Statistics For The GameMajor League Baseball has several thrilling matchups scheduled for Friday, July 29. One of those MLB tilts sees the Arizona Diamondbacks (45-53) heading to Truist Park to take on the 2021 World Series-winning Atlanta Braves (59-31).
After being the hottest team in baseball for the majority of June and July, the Braves have started to slow down. Atlanta has dropped three of its last four contests and is looking to rebound following a 7-2 thumping at the hands of the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks are heading in the opposite direction. Playoffs are still a long shot, however, fans are feeling more optimistic now that Arizona has won six of its last seven games, including the most recent three straight.
Veteran southpaw Madison Bumgarner will begin the game for the Diamondbacks. Meanwhile, the Braves will send Kyle Wright to the mound, hoping that he can end their slumping ways.
Here’s a look at BetOnline Sportsbook’s odds, along with the best bets to make, ahead of today’s Diamondbacks vs. Braves matchup.

Can Diamondbacks Continue Winning Ways?
With how bad they’ve been at times this season, nobody expected the Diamondbacks to look as good as they have lately. Now, they have an opportunity to continue their winning ways against a Braves club that they’ve had success against the season.
Nearly two months ago, there was a three-game Diamondbacks vs. Braves series played at Chase Field. While many thought Atlanta would win the series with ease, it was actually Arizona who picked up two of the three victories.
Having said that, the Braves did win the third and final game, 6-0, kickstarting their incredible run in June. Obviously, Atlanta has become a different team since the clubs’ last series, leaving time to tell if it’ll be a different outcome this time around.
Funny enough, Wright was actually the starting pitcher in that 6-0 victory. The 26-year-old pitched a total of six innings that night, striking out five batters and issuing just as many walks without allowing a run on three hits.
If that wasn’t intriguing enough, Bumgarner also started for the D-Backs in that game as well. He was playing decently through six innings, recording six strikeouts, two walks and a pair of earned runs on seven hits.
If the Diamondbacks are going to win, they need continued production from David Peralta and Josh Rojas. The duo has combined for 17 hits, two home runs and seven RBIs over the last seven games while each of them is batting .421 or better over that stretch.
In terms of trends, the Braves are 8-5 in their last 13 games against the Diamondbacks, although, it’s been the D-Backs who’ve won three of the last four meetings.
Clearly, Arizona has had Atlanta’s number a surprising amount of times lately. It remains to be seen if that trend will continue in tonight’s Diamondbacks vs. Braves showdown.
Betting Trends for Diamondbacks vs. Braves
- Arizona is 1-4 straight up in its last five road games.
- Atlanta is 9-3 straight up in its last 12 games against NL West opponents.
- Arizona is 29-40 straight up against right-handed pitchers this season.
- Atlanta is 24-11 straight up against left-handed pitchers this season.
- The total has hit the over in eight of Atlanta’s last nine games.
Diamondbacks vs. Braves Prediction and Best Bets
Diamondbacks vs. Braves Prediction: Braves to win
Diamondbacks vs. Braves Best Bets: Braves -1.5 (-108 at BetOnline) & Under 9 (-115 at BetOnline)
Even though the Diamondbacks have been on quite the impressive streak, this is a great opportunity for the Braves to get back on track. Wright hasn’t lost a start since June 18 and I don’t see that changing since he’s been credited with the win in five of his last six outings.
For the best bet, I’m taking the Braves to cover the spread at -108 due to their success against lefties, like Bumgarner. The total of nine runs seems a bit high for this pitching matchup, hence why I like the under.
