The MLB has several exciting matchups scheduled for Friday, June 17, including a showdown at the Great American Ball Park as the Cincinnati Reds (23-40) host the Milwaukee Brewers (35-30).
The all-NL Central collision involves a tale of two different teams. On one hand, you have the Reds, who have been one of the worst teams in the Majors since the 2022 campaign began.
On the other hand, the Brewers started off the year as one of baseball's best teams, only for a 3-12 record over their last 15 to set them back. After leading the division for the majority of the season, they now trail the St. Louis Cardinals by two games for the lead.
Veteran left-handed pitcher Eric Lauer will get the start for the Brewers while the Reds will send Hunter Greene to the mound.
Here’s a look at the odds and best bets to make ahead of today’s Brewers vs. Reds matchup.

Brewers Look to Break Out of Funk vs. Reds
The Brewers are supposed to be World Series contenders, proven by their +1500 odds (T-No. 7) to win a championship on BetOnline Sportsbook. However, their recent skid has caused some people to second-guess themselves.
The Brewers can get back on track with a dominant showing against the lowly Reds. Fortunately, there’s reason to believe that they can get the job done.
For starters, the Brewers must take advantage of their matchup against Greene, which they’ve already done twice this season. The 22-year-old rookie is 0-2 against Milwaukee thus far this season, giving up 13 hits and 10 runs over eight innings for an 11.25 ERA.
While he played better the second time around, Greene was shelled by eight runs over only 2.2 innings of work in his first matchup against the Brewers, resulting in him getting the hook.
Another thing that the Brewers have going for themselves is that they’ve had the Reds’ number in recent history. Milwaukee is 9-3 straight up in its last 12 games against its rival, outscoring Cincinnati by an average score of 7.75 to 5.
However, the Brewers will need Lauer to snap out of his own personal funk against the Reds. While the 27-year-old lefty has been solid throughout the season, he owns a 1-4 record and 4.25 ERA in eight career games (seven starts) against Cincinnati.
Nevertheless, most trends seem to favor the Brewers over the Reds on Friday. If Milwaukee is successful, the club will be one step closer to re-taking the NL Central lead.
Over/Under Trends for Brewers vs. Reds
- Milwaukee is 2-8 straight up in its last 10 games against NL teams.
- Cincinnati is 3-6 straight up in its last nine games against NL Central teams.
- The total has hit the over in each of the last seven Brewers vs. Reds games at the Great American Ball Park.
- The total has hit the over in each of the last six meetings between the Brewers and Reds.
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Cincinnati Reds Prediction and Best Bets
Brewers vs. Reds Prediction: Brewers to win
Brewers vs. Reds Best Bets: Brewers ML (-106 at BetOnline) & Over 9.5 (-114 at BetOnline)
While neither team has been that hot lately, I like the Brewers to win based on their recent history against the Reds alone. I also like the chances of Lauer out-dulling Greene on the mound due to the former’s experience.
As for the best bets, I’m taking the Brewers outright at -106, as well as the total to hit over 9.5 runs. After all, the Brewers and Reds are consistently hitting the over and with the way that both teams have given up runs lately, it wouldn’t be shocking if it happened once again.
