See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe 2022 Major League Baseball season continues on Monday, Aug. 8 with several intriguing matchups. One that sticks out among the rest is an AL East showdown between the Toronto Blue Jays (60-48) and Baltimore Orioles (56-52).
The Blue Jay shave been one of the hotter teams since the MLB All-Star Break and enter this game after splitting a four-game series with the Minnesota Twins over the weekend. They currently occupy the AL’s top wild card spot by two games, meaning a victory tonight will help solidify that lead.
Meanwhile, the Orioles continue to roll through opponents after their midseason turnaround. Baltimore won five straight games before losing to the Pittsburgh Pirates, 8-1, on Tuesday, leaving time to tell if the club can bounce back.
The Blue Jays are sending southpaw Yusei Kikuchi in as their starter tonight while the Orioles will counter him with Jordan Lyles.
Here’s a look at BetOnline Sportsbook’s odds, along with the best bets to make, ahead of today’s Blue Jays vs. Orioles matchup.

Blue Jays, Orioles Meet for 2nd Series in 2022
Despite being AL East rivals, this is only the second Blue Jays vs. Orioles series of the 2022 MLB season. The two clubs previously met back in June, resulting in a 2-2 series split.
Much like the last time the Orioles faced the Blue Jays in a series, Lyles gets to start against Toronto. The veteran righty last faced the Jays on June 14 and even though he surrendered four runs on five hits over 5.1 innings, Baltimore still walked away with the 6-5 victory.
Funny enough, Kikuchi also pitched for the Blue Jays in the game. The left-handed hurler’s performance wasn’t much better than Lyles’, giving up four runs on five hits and four walks over four frames of work. Naturally, Toronto is hoping that Kikuchi can have a better showing this time around.
Taking the last time Kikuchi and Lyles met faced off, tonight’s Blue Jays vs. Orioles game could come down to which club gets its bats going first. For Toronto, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will be counted on to continue his impressive production after recording 14 hits, two home runs and six RBIs with a .368/.455/.632 slash line over his last nine games.
Fortunately, the Orioles have a red-hot player over their own to counter Guerrero. Outfielder Anthony Santander is also playing on another level, batting .357 in his own last 10 games, which includes 15 hits and eight RBIs.
Even Orioles rookie catcher Adley Rutschman is starting to get more comfortable lately. He has 11 hits, 15 total bases and a .344 BA in his last nine games and doesn’t look to be slowing down any time soon.
Nevertheless, the Blue Jays have dominated the Orioles lately, going 14-6 against their rivals over the last 20 meetings. Despite how good Baltimore has been lately, it’s still going to take a monumental effort to win at Camden Yards on Monday.
Betting Trends for Blue Jays vs. Orioles
- Toronto is 13-5 straight up in its last 18 games.
- Baltimore is 14-4 straight up in its last 18 home games.
- The total has hit the over in seven of Toronto’s last eight road games against Baltimore.
- The total has hit the under in each of Baltimore’s last six games against Toronto.
Blue Jays vs. Orioles Prediction and Best Bets
Blue Jays vs. Orioles Prediction: Blue Jays to win
Blue Jays vs. Orioles Best Bets: Toronto ML (-144 at BetOnline) & Over 9.5 (-102 at BetOnline)
For tonight’s contest, I’m riding with the Blue Jays as the winners. Even though the Orioles have something special going on, Toronto is the deeper club. You also can’t ignore the recent success that the Jays have had against the O’s.
As for the best bets, I’m taking the Blue Jays outright on the moneyline, as well as the total to hit over 9.5 runs. The two teams have averaged a combined 14.8 runs in their last 10 games, which is why I’m comfortable with the over.
