MLB Opening Day is nearly upon us as the 2024 campaign begins on Thursday, March 28. Baseball bettors can’t wait to get in on the action, especially when it comes to one of the more popular wagers out there: betting on the 2024 World Series winner.
From Juan Soto joining the Yankees to the Rangers looking for back-to-back World Series wins, the 2024 MLB season is filled with storylines. ⚾️

Even though all 30 MLB teams have 162 regular-season games to get through, it’s never too early to bet on this year’s champions. At the same time, predicting a winner can be tough — especially doing so in March.
Fortunately, Betting News is here to cover your MLB betting needs throughout the next seven or so months, beginning with my 2024 World Series predictions and picks.

After winning the 2023 World Series, the Texas Rangers sit at +1400 odds (6th) to repeat as champions in 2024. For reference, an MLB team hasn’t won consecutive championships since the New York Yankees won three in a row from 1998 to 2000.
It’s going to be interesting to see if the Rangers can go all the way again this year considering how they nearly missed the 2023 postseason by a few games. Although they gained key players like Kirby Yates, Andrew Knizner, and Tyler Mahle this offseason, they also lost names like Mitch Garver, Aroldis Chapman, and Martin Perez to free agency.
A stacked AL West Division could also make it difficult for Texas to repeat. After all, the Rangers also have to deal with the Houston Astros and Seattle Mariners, who sit third and eighth, respectively on BetOnline’s 2024 World Series odds list. It’s worth noting that the Astros held the tiebreaker against the Rangers last season while the Mariners only finished two games behind the defending champs.
In other words, the deck is stacked against the Rangers to win back-to-back titles this season.

MLB Bets: Early 2024 World Series Pick: LA Dodgers (+325)
Sometimes, the most obvious championship pick doesn’t end up being the right one. This isn’t one of those cases, though.
The LA Dodgers are BetOnline’s +325 favorite to win the 2024 World Series and I can’t say that I disagree. For starters, the Dodgers have racked up five 100-win performances across the last seven seasons — a stretch that saw them make three World Series appearances, which includes when they won it all in 2020.
The Dodgers also have one of the deepest rosters in the Majors which only became deeper this offseason. The franchise signed several big-name players this winter, including dual-threat icon and two-time AL MVP Shohei Ohtani on a 10-year, $700 million contract. He isn’t healthy enough to pitch this season, but that won’t stop him from likely hitting 40+ home runs for the third time in four years.
Dodgers two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani will not pitch this season as he recovers from elbow surgery, but he could end up being more than a designated hitter.https://t.co/IjBJsEY7uf

Ohtani isn’t the only major free-agent signing the Dodgers made this offseason. They also inked Japanese pitching sensation Yoshinobu Yamamoto to a 12-year, $325 million deal after the 25-year-old ace went 17-6 with a 1.42 ERA and 9.3 strikeouts per nine innings with the Orix Buffaloes in 2023.
On top of Yamamoto and Ohtani, the Dodgers also brought in James Paxton and Teoscar Hernandez while re-signing the likes of Clayton Kershaw, Jason Heyward, and Joe Kelly. That’s without mentioning returning players like Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy, and more.
Anything can change between now and Game No. 162, however, I have a tough time imagining the Dodgers failing to at least make the 2024 World Series with the stacked roster they’ve put together.
