Opening Day is a week away, and a few futures grabbed me enough to want to write about them. They are all long shots, so there is no reason to go wild on these plays.

Cy Young: Brandon Pfaadt to Win NL Cy Young (+17000) Get These Odds & Sign Up Bonus @ Bovada
The Stank:
Why are you yelling at me? The title says “Long shots.”
Sure, Pfaadt was terrible in the regular season in 2023. I faded the daylight out of him every time he was on the bump. In his rookie season, Pfaadt had a 5.72 ERA and 1.41 WHIP while allowing 61 runs in 19 appearances. However, when the Diamondbacks made their postseason run, he was untouchable.

In his five postseason appearances, he lowered his ERA to 3.27. On top of that, he held the Phillies and Dodgers scoreless. The improvements Pfaadt made from the regular season to the postseason grabbed me enough to sprinkle on him to come home with the Cy Young at the end of the season.
Sure, you could say, “sophomore slump,” but I have hair on my chest.
MVP: Bobby Witt Jr. to Win AL MVP (+1400) Get These Odds & Sign Up Bonus @ Bovada
The Stank:
Bobby Witt is one of those baseball players whose game makes your jaw fall to the floor every time you watch him play. He is one of my favorite players to watch because he does everything: crushes the ball, steals bags, and makes plays with his glove.

Being on the Royals does not help him get the spotlight he deserves, but following his 11-year $288.7 million contract, the 23-year-old shortstop should receive all the flowers he deserves.
The young star is coming off a fantastic sophomore season, batting .276 with an OPS of .813. The Royals stud also recorded 30 home runs, 28 doubles, and 49 steals. The price given is perfect for a guy who shows up day in and day out. If first baseman Vinny Pasquantino can come back from his season-ending injury last season, the Royals should continue to grow and develop. The Royals could make some sparks fly in the worst division in baseball.
For transparency purposes, I have also sprinkled (literally $1) on Pasquantino to lead the league in home runs (300/1). Why? For the Italians.
Hits Leader: Michael Harris III to Lead the League in Hits (+2500) Get These Odds & Sign Up Bonus @ Bovada
The Stank:
Coming into his third MLB season, Michael Harris is coming off another solid season for the Braves, batting .293 with 148 hits and 33 doubles. The center fielder has the bat and the speed to get on base in a plethora of ways. Oh, dribbler to third? He beats it out with his lightning speed.
Hopefully, Braves skipper Brian Snitker will move Harris up in the lineup to give him more at-bats this season. Last season, he hovered around the bottom of the order. If Harris gets more at-bats in 2024, he has a great chance at leading the league in hits.

Harris’ teammate Ronald Acuna Jr. led the league in hits last season with 217. That was with 643 at-bats. Harris only had 505 at-bats in 2023 and recorded 148. The kid has a lot of potential, and like the rest of these long shots, I think this is worth the sprinkle.
