An already historic election season was taken to the next level over the weekend.
Just over a week after Republican nominee Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt, United States President Joe Biden announced that he won’t be seeking reelection this November. “While it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down,” Biden posted to social media on Sunday, adding that’s focused on working hard for the remainder of his term.
“I will speak to the Nation later this week in more detail about my decision.”
Concerns emerged regarding Biden following a presidential debate with Trump on June 27. The current president seemed incoherent and struggled to speak at times, leaving viewers to wonder if it was finally time for the 81-year-old to step aside and let someone younger take over.
With the United States finding itself in unprecedented times (again), many are wondering what’s next for the Democratic party as November nears.
Fortunately, the latest U.S. Presidential Election odds from BetOnline help shed some light on the race.
Presidential Election Odds 2024: Democratic Nominee Following Biden Announcement
U.S. Presidential Election odds are courtesy of BetOnline at 3:57 p.m. ET on Monday, July 22.
- Kamala Harris (-2000)
- Michelle Obama (+1200)
- Hilary Clinton (+4000)
- Joe Manchin (+5000)
- Gavin Newsom (+8000)
- Gretchen Whitmer (+8000)
- J.B. Pritzker (+10000)
- Elizabeth Warren (+15000)
- 16 others between +25000 and +500000 odds
Vice President Kamala Harris is the 2024 Democratic nominee following President Biden’s announcement. Harris’ -2000 odds carry an implied probability of 95.2%.
It isn’t much of a shock to see Harris leading this race. After all, Biden already gave the 59-year-old his endorsement after announcing his exit from this year’s election. Besides, the next two candidates don’t make a ton of sense. Michelle Obama — albeit a former First Lady — likely isn’t too keen about returning to the White House while Hilary Clinton already lost to Trump in 2016.
Harris has also since received approval from the likes of former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, and California Gov. Gavin Newsom. Considering how Pritzker and Newsom are both in the mix to be the next Dem. nominee, it’s clearly Harris’ race to lose.
But while Harris is the clear-cut favorite to lead the Democrats into this year’s election does she have what it takes to win it all?

2024 Presidential Election Odds Following Biden Announcement
- Donald Trump (-200)
- Kamala Harris (+185)
- Michelle Obama (+2000)
- Gretchen Whitmer (+10000)
- Hilary Clinton (+10000)
- Gavin Newsom (+12500)
- George Clooney (+15000)
- Andy Beshear (+25000)
- Josh Shapiro (+25000)
- Pete Buttigieg (+25000)
- Mark Kelly (+25000)
- Roy Cooper (+25000)
- Wes Moore (+25000)
- J.B. Pritzker (+30000)
With less than four months to go until the election, Donald Trump is BetOnline’s -200 favorite (66.7%) to be named the next President of the United States. If successful, the 78-year-old would be the first president since Grover Cleveland to return for a second term four years after his first.
Harris is the only other person on the list with a realistic shot at becoming the next president. Her +185 odds are much closer than the next potential candidate (Michelle Obama, +2000), carrying an implied probability of 35.1%. Even though those aren’t the most juiced odds, Harris’ probability could skyrocket depending on who she names as her 2024 running mate.
Outside of Harris and Trump, there isn’t anyone worth monitoring. Most significant Democrats are already siding with Harris while Obama and Clinton won’t happen, as mentioned before. Iconic actor George Clooney (+15000) is even on the list, however, that has more to do with how outspoken he was about Biden stepping down. Besides, it isn’t unusual to see celebrity names popping up on these odds lists.
With that being said, American voters are all but certainly looking at a Trump vs. Harris showdown this fall.
