The 2022 USFL Championship game has officially been set now that the semifinals have come to an end. This year’s championship contest is a big one as the Birmingham Stallions will go one-on-one with the Philadelphia Stars on Sunday, July 3.
After going 9-1 in the regular season, the Stallions opened the playoffs with a 31-17 victory over the New Orleans Breakers. Birmingham led 21-14 at halftime and didn’t look back, holding the Breakers to three second-half points to secure the victory.
On the other hand, few people believed in the Stars making it to the championship when they were matched up against the 9-1 New Jersey Generals. Nevertheless, Philadelphia found a way to get the job down, using a touchdown in the dying minutes to give them the 19-14 victory.
Only one team can end the season as the inaugural USFL champions. Here’s a look at the latest Stallions vs. Stars odds from BetOnline Sportsbook, as well as a prediction for this championship game.

Philadelphia Stars vs. Birmingham Stallions Betting Outlook
It’s going to be interesting to see if the Stars can handle the pressure of being in the USFL Championship game. At the same time, they’ve proven that they can be one of the league’s best teams when given the chance, having won five of their last six games.
The first key to beating the Stallions is for the Stars defense to show up the same way as it did against the Generals. Despite holding the ball for about six fewer minutes than its opponent, Philadelphia managed to hold New Jersey to 285 total yards.
Considering how the Generals led the league with 349.4 yards per game during the regular season, there’s good reason to be impressed by the Stars’ achievement. Having said that, things won’t get any easier against the Stallions.
Philadelphia still needs to figure out a way how to outscore Birmingham. The Stars were dominated, 30-17, when they met the Stallions back in Week 5, leaving time to tell if the outcome will be different this weekend.
The Stallions looked like the team to beat for the USFL Championship before the 2022 campaign even reached the playoffs. After all, the South Division leaders were on pace for an undefeated season until they hit a hiccup against the Houston Gamblers a few weeks ago.
Fortunately, that small bump wasn’t detrimental to their campaign. The Stallions have been rolling since, proven by how they handled the Breakers in the semifinals. Though they trailed by seven after the first quarter, the Stallions dominated by outscoring their opponents, 31-10, in the final three frames.
It was a solid team effort that led to the win over New Orleans. One of the biggest plays of the game came from Stallions linebacker DeMarquis Gates, who recorded a 71-yard pick-six, giving his team its first lead in the second quarter.
Even though the Stallions aren’t perfect, it’s just tough imagining them coming this far to only lose to the Stars.
Philadelphia Stars vs. Birmingham Stallions USFL Championship Game Prediction and Best Bet
Prediction and best bets are from Thursday, June 30.
Prediction: Stallions 25, Stars 18
Best Bets: Stallions -4.5 (-110 at BetOnline Sportsbook)
The Stars have shocked a lot of people and deserve to be in the 2022 USFL Championship game. However, they barely beat the Generals last week and they can’t count on the same luck to defeat the Stallions.
At the end of the day, the Stallions are the better team on paper and they had no issue beating Philadelphia before. Even if that was weeks ago, the fact remains that they know how to handle their opponents.
As for the best bet, I’m taking the Stallions on the spread at -110. There isn’t much value to be had in an outright victory, however, seven of Birmingham’s 10 wins this year (regular season and playoffs) have been by at least five points.
