Grizzlies vs. Clippers | Analysis

The Intuit Mafia
The Clippers officially got their own home this off-season and it looks like the fans are loving it. The new stadium’s not only state of the art with all the bells and whistle; but it’s got something we’ve never seen before, The Wall.
The Wall is section of seat, exclusively for Clipper fans, in the stadium that the Clippers describe as: “51 uninterrupted rows of passionate Clippers fans…”
It not only provide an exclusive experience for the fans; but acts as a strategic advantage during key moments like late game free throws. Fans in the section have been as loud as ever and even opponents like Kevin Durant and Devin Booker have spoken to how much it really works.
The Clippers defense has always been good, but we see a significant jump at home. The team ranks 9th in defensive rating on the road, but 2nd when in the Intuit Dome. Teams are shooting worse than their season average at the free throw line, from the field and even from beyond the arc.
The team’s 24-10 at home this year but just 10-15 on the road, whatever it is they did; it’s working.
Next Man Up
Over the last few season, the Grizzlies have fostered a culture of next man up mentality and because of it, they’ve remained competitive regardless of who’s out there on the floor. This year the Grizzlies’ franchise player, Ja Morant played just 43 of the 70 games so far this year; yet the Grizzlies sit just 2-games back of 2nd play in the Western Conference.
This year, all 3 of their top-3 players have missed time and they still remain among the top of the Western Conference. Head Coach Taylor Jenkins has this looking to compete this year and matchups like this one are the best way to simulate those playoff-type environments. Look for the Grizzlies to come out fighting, even without their leader Ja Morant.

Kawhi Leonard o22.5 Points (-130) via BetOnline

The Klaw is back and he’s playing full minutes again Over his L10 games, Kawhi’s averaging 35.6 MPG, 23.1 PPG and he’s taking just under 20 shot attempts per game. He’s cleared this line just 5 times over his L10 games, but he’s 23+ in 3 straight games now.
In this 10-game span, Kawhi’s shooting 50% from the field and 41% from beyond the arc. He’s scored 22 or more points in 3 of his L4 against the Grizzlies and in 4 straight games overall.
The Clippers are coming off a tough fought victory over the Cavaliers, Kawhi played 35 minutes and scored 33 points on 63% from the field. The Cavs had no answer for Kawhi and tonight the Grizzlies won’t wither.
Memphis ranks 24th in points allowed this year, 30th in points allowed to SFs and rank in the bottom-5 of wide open 3-point attempts allowed. Kawhi and the Clippers are looking to slide out of the play-in tournament and the only way to do that is by winning games. The 4-games in a row that Kawhi’s cleared this line, all 4 ended up being wins for the Clippers.
Leonard’s shown flashes at times this year, showing all of us he’s still that same guy who won TWO Championships, TWO Finals MVP Awards with TWO different franchises. When he plays at that same level, the Clippers are almost unbeatable.
Kawhi Leonard o22.5 Points (-130)
Bogdan Bogdanović o1.5 3s (-111) via BetOnline

This is purely a value play. This line feels too low for a Grizzlies team that ranks dead last in wide open 3-point attempts allowed.
The Grizzlies are also letting opponents hit 14.1 3s per game (25th) and allowing opponents to shoot 40% from beyond the arc over their L10 games. Bogdan’s had a little bit of a tough time carving out a role on this team, but Harden and company are beginning to trust in the Serbian Sharshooter and he’s earned it.
In 17 games with Harden this year, Bogdanović is shooting 40% from beyond the arc and 57% when at the Intuit Dome. It hasn’t been so much that Bogdan has been bad, but it’s been a lack of opportunity. Since arriving in Los Angeles, he’s averaging just 5.3 3-point attempts per game,
The Grizzlies give up a lot of 3s, most of them wide open. Bogdan’s shooting 47% on wide open 3-pointers since joining the Clippers and tonight against the Grizzlies he should see ample opportunity.
Bogdan Bogdanović o1.5 3s (-111)
