Week 1 of the 2022 Canadian Football League season went off without a hitch, providing football fans across Canada with multiple thrilling matchups. With the way the Week 2 schedule is looking, the CFL fanbase should expect the entertainment to continue.
The action begins between the Montreal Alouettes and Toronto Argonauts on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET. Things will then continue on Friday as the Ottawa RedBlacks host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at 7:30 p.m. ET as well.
The Calgary Stampeders and Hamilton Tiger-Cats kick things off on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. ET before the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Edmonton Elks close out the week at 9:30 pm. ET.
As you can possibly tell, the B.C. Lions are on bye in Week 2.
Here’s a look at BetOnline Sportsbook’s odds for the CFL Week 2 matchups, as well as a prediction for each game.

CFL Week 2 Predictions and Picks
Montreal Alouettes vs. Toronto Argonauts Betting Odds and Prediction
- Spread: Montreal Alouettes +3.5 (-120), Toronto Argonauts -3.5 (+100)
- Total: OVER 49.5 (-115), UNDER 49.5 (-105)
- Moneyline: Montreal Alouettes +146, Toronto Argonauts -172
Odds are via BetOnline Sportsbook.
The Alouettes lost a heart-breaking close game, 30-27, to the Stampeders to open up the new CFL season. If they want to bounce back from that performance, quarterback Vernon Davis has to be better under center. He completed just 56.3% of his passes in Week 1 for 250 yards and one touchdown to two interceptions, which won’t cut it every night.
Meanwhile, this matchup marks the Argonauts’ 2022 debut. They led the East Division with a 9-5 record in 2021 but ended up falling to the Tiger-Cats in the playoffs’ division finals. While Toronto went 1-1 against Montreal last year, the Alouettes outscored the Argos 64-46 in those matchups.
While Montreal looked solid against Calgary last week, I see Toronto picking up the home win on Thursday.
Prediction: Argonauts 35, Alouettes 29
Best Bet: Over 49.5 Points (-115)
Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs. Ottawa RedBlacks Betting Odds and Prediction
- Spread: Winnipeg Blue Bombers -2.5 (-125), Ottawa RedBlacks +2.5 (+105)
- Total: OVER 45.5 (-115), UNDER 45.5 (-105)
- Moneyline: Winnipeg Blue Bombers -150, Ottawa RedBlacks +128
Odds are via BetOnline Sportsbook.
Fans are being treated to a 2022 CFL Week 1 rematch on Friday when the Blue Bombers and RedBlacks meet in Ottawa for their second meeting in as many weeks.
The defending Grey Cup champions managed to walk away the victors from a close affair last Friday, edging out the RedBlacks by a score of 19-17. While it looked like Ottawa was going to secure the victory, Winnipeg snatched the win with a last-minute Marc Liegghio field goal.
It wasn’t all bad for the RedBlacks in defeat, though. QB Jeremiah Masoli had 380 yards and a touchdown in his Ottawa debut and showed immediate chemistry with Jaelon Acklin, who caught six passes for 143 yards.
The Blue Bombers are the better team, the RedBlacks proved that they can hold their ground. With the matchup taking place in Ottawa, I like the home team pulling off an upset.
Prediction: RedBlacks 23, Blue Bombers 21
Best Bet: RedBlacks ML (+128)
Calgary Stampeders vs. Hamilton Tiger-Cats Betting Odds and Prediction
- Spread: Calgary Stampeders -2.5 (-125), Hamilton Tiger-Cats +2.5 (+105)
- Total: OVER 45.5 (-115), UNDER 45.5 (-105)
- Moneyline: Calgary Stampeders -150, Hamilton Tiger-Cats +128
Odds are via BetOnline Sportsbook.
As mentioned above, the Stampeders opened the 2022 CFL season with a Week 1 victory and look to follow that up on Saturday.
The big question of the week is whether or not Calgary QB Bo Levi Mitchell can play after exiting last week’s game with a foot injury. He’s no longer in a walking boot, which is great news, but time will tell if he’s healthy enough to suit up on Saturday.
On the other hand, the Tiger-Cats are hoping to avenge last week’s embarrassing 30-13 loss to the Roughriders. Hamilton was only down by six points when the fourth quarter started, but couldn’t hold Saskatchewan’s offense down beyond that.
Hamilton made it to the Grey Cup for a reason in 2021 and I think the Tiger-Cats are better than they showed last week. Having said that, I expect the Stampeders to win a close one.
Prediction: Stampeders 29, Tiger-Cats 23
Best Bet: Over 45.5 Points (-115)
Saskatchewan Roughriders vs. Edmonton Elks Betting Odds and Prediction
- Spread: Saskatchewan Roughriders -7.5 (-110), Edmonton Elks +7.5 (-110)
- Total: OVER 50.5 (-110), UNDER 50.5 (-110)
- Moneyline: Saskatchewan Roughriders -290, Edmonton Elks +240
Odds are via BetOnline Sportsbook.
Week 2 of the 2022 CFL season ends with its most lopsided matchup and for good reason. The Elks were absolutely slaughtered by the B.C. Lions to open the new year, getting crushed 59-15 on the road last Saturday.
Now, the Elks’ defense is in for another long day after the Roughriders just dropped 30 points against the Tiger-Cats. Considering how Hamilton has a much better defense on paper compared to Edmonton, there’s legitimate reason to be concerned.
Based on last week’s performances, I don’t see how the Elks can upset the Roughriders. Saskatchewan is the better team and will likely prove it in a big way to end the week.
Prediction: Roughriders 41, Elks 18
Best Bet: Roughriders -7.5 (-110)
