2022 Premier League Darts Night 14 Quarterfinals Betting Odds and Tips
Joe Cullen vs. James Wade
Odds from BetOnline:
- Joe Cullen @ -110
- James Wade @ -110
We open the show with fifth-placed Joe Cullen playing James Wade in third, with both men having plenty to play for. Wade has been performing better than expected so far, winning two nights and 15 games which keeps him comfortably inside the prize places and on the heels of the leaders.
He was last seen losing heavily to league leader Jonny Clayton in Glasgow, going down by a 6-2 scoreline in what was a bit of a lesson for the Machine. That result shows he could be playing for the best of the rest, and holding his position in third may be the best he can hope for.
There's no shame in losing to Clayton, although James would have backed himself to put up more of a fight. He'll want to bounce back with a solid win over an opponent that put up a fight against MVG in Scotland but was beaten 6-5, and that could ruin his confidence.
Joe Cullen vs. James Wade Betting Tip – Wade to win @ -110
Gary Anderson vs. Gerwyn Price
Odds from BetOnline:
- Gary Anderson @ +130
- Gerwyn Price @ -160
The biggest disappointment of the Premier League Darts season has been Gary Anderson, and that won't change between night 14 and the finish line. The Flying Scotsman's results have been poor, but he is also sitting dead last in the division with just one night win to show for his time.
We know Anderson is capable of much more, being a former Premier League winner, but he hasn't got going this year and will miss out on the tournament's knockout rounds. It looks like he has all but given up the fight, although he did rally to beat countryman Peter Wright in Glasgow.
This looks like a great chance for him to follow up last week's success with another victory, and although it won't be enough to save his season, it will help Anderson reclaim some respect. We are backing Gary to defeat an opponent who is only two places higher in the league and lost 6-3 to Michael Smith last week.
Gary Anderson vs. Gerwyn Price Betting Tip – Anderson to win @ +130
Michael van Gerwen vs. Peter Wright
Odds are from BetOnline:
- Michael van Gerwen @ -200
- Peter Wright @ +160
What a game we have in store here as Mighty takes on Snakebite. These rivals have served up some memorable matches over the years, each enjoying their fair share of success over the other, and fans are looking forward to a thriller.
This could prove to be the most exciting contest of the evening in Sheffield as both MVG and Wright know the pressure is on them to get the win and keep their challenge on track. Michael is second in the table and was beaten by Clayton in the final last week, but he found success in Leverkusen and arrives with confidence.
Peter Wright lost a crucial match to Gary Anderson in Glasgow, which saw him drop to fourth in the table and holding his position now looks to be the goal. Wright hasn't yet hit top gear, but he should have enough to make the playoffs and will give Mighty a tough night.
Michael van Gerwen vs. Peter Wright Betting Tip – Wright to hit the most 180s @ +130
Michael Smith vs. Jonny Clayton
Odds from BetOnline:
- Michael Smith @ +130
- Jonny Clayton @ -162
We are running out of superlatives for Jonny Clayton, who has rocked the Premier League Darts this season. He won another night in Glasgow last week, which took his total to four nights and 20 matches.
Clayton is head and shoulders above the chasing pack in the regular season, and although that doesn't guarantee he'll win the trophy, there looks no stopping him. He beat MVG 6-3 in the final a week ago after being edged out 6-5 by James Wade.
This looks like a case of how many Clayton will win by as it's difficult to get too excited about the chances of his opponent. Smith is second from the bottom of the league and remains the only player without a night win next to his name.
Michael was last seen in action, losing 6-5 in Glasgow against MVG, which suggests he is edging closer to that elusive night win, but it's becoming desperate with every other player already off the mark.
Michael Smith vs. Jonny Clayton Betting Tip – Clayton -1.5 handicap @ -110
