Tappan Street Out, Render Judgment In Kentucky Derby 2025

Tappan Street, a leading contender for the 2025 Kentucky Derby, has been withdrawn due to a condylar fracture sustained during training. The injury occurred one week before the race, ending his Derby aspirations.

Trained by Brad Cox, Tappan Street had an impressive record, including a victory in the Grade 1 Florida Derby. His withdrawal opens a spot in the Derby field for Render Judgment, a longshot entry.​

Render Judgment, trained by Kenny McPeek, has shown promise despite modest results. He broke his maiden at Churchill Downs and placed in graded stakes races. ​

In preparation for the Virginia Derby, McPeek made equipment changes, adding blinkers and adjusting shoeing. These modifications aimed to enhance Render Judgment’s performance.
