Sycamore Stakes Friday: Keeneland Analysis, Selections

Eight year old Arklow returns at Keeneland. The veteran campaigner will look to find winning form for the first time since last May in Kentucky.

Keeneland- Race 1

Post: 1:00 PM ET; $45k Claiming going 6 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 7

• #2 DIAMOND LYDIAMARIE (12-1) is a price horse has really consistent pace figures which should work well in a moderately paced race.
• #4 GIRLS A BULLET (8-1) seems to fit well enough here. This one is a good bet to hit the board in this type of race.
• #5 TAP N SWAY (8-5) appears to be a major player in this race. She shouldn’t have trouble with the 6 furlong distance.
• #3 CATECHISM (20-1) has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here. This one should be part of the early pace in this spot.

• #11 RETAINED (2-1) is the top pick. He has races good enough to beat this group. This one has the pedigree to be a major player in this spot.
• #9 ARMY STAR (4-1) should improve off the first start and should be competitive in this spot. He makes sense on speed figures. This one was solid on debut.
• #13 HILL OF TARA (4-1) should be competitive in this spot. The figures fit and this one could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end.
• #4 SAILOR’S CHANCE (20-1) has solid early pace figures in a race that looks to lack a ton of front running speed.

• #3 AWESOME INDRA (4-1) looks best here. She goes out for the Joseph barn and gets Gaffalione in the irons. This one seems to fit well enough here.
• #6 FRILLS (6-1) should be competitive in this spot. She goes out for the Leitch barn and gets Corrales in the irons.
• #7 INVALUABLE (2-1) feels like a fringe contender in this spot. She has races good enough to beat this group.
• #2 LI’L GRAZEN (7-5) has to be respected going out for the combination of Diodoro and Santana. This one should be sitting in the second tier of runners and looking to make one well timed run at the leaders.

Keeneland- Race 4

Post: 2:36 PM ET; $44k Claiming going 7 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 9

• #7 STORMY PATTERN (2-1) gets the top selection. He has races good enough to beat this group. This one could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end.
• #2 BLUE KENTUCKY (4-1) appears to be a major player in this race. He goes out for the Barkley barn and gets Graham in the irons.
• #9 DESOTO’S WAR (3-1) could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end.
• #1 HOT PASTRAMI (9-2) is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. He makes sense on speed figures.

Keeneland- Race 5

Post: 3:08 PM ET; $110k Allowance going 1 mile on turf; Entries: 14

• #9 HERINGTON ROCKET (4-1) shouldn’t have trouble with the 1 mile distance. This one will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late.
• #3 LADY PUCHI (7-2) seems to fit well enough here. This one runs evenly and looks to get a very fair pace scenario here.
• #8 ISN’T SHE LOVELY (8-1) should be competitive in this spot and should appreciate a moderate pace in this contest.
• #10 DUPLICITOUS (30-1) is a price horse and makes sense on speed figures. This one has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.

Keeneland- Race 6

Post: 3:40 PM ET; $120k Allowance Optional Claiming going 6 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 9

• #4 PEACEFUL WATERS (6-5) looks best here. He seems to fit well enough and has really consistent pace figures which should work well in a moderately paced race.
• #5 STRAVA (7-2) should be competitive in this spot. He looks to be the class of the field.
• #2 KNOCKER DOWN (10-1) is a price horse and isn’t without hope. He projects to sit mid pack and come with one run.
• #3 TEJANO TWIST (6-1) should be in the mix throughout and has a chance to get in the number at the wire.

Keeneland- Race 7

Post: 4:12 PM ET; $100k Maiden Special Weight going 1 1/16 miles on turf; Entries: 16

• #2 SELF CONFIDENT (7-2) should improve off the first start and gets the top selection. This one has the pedigree to be a major player in this spot.
• #15 STAY LOST (8-1) has races good enough to beat this group. This one will likely have a lot to do in the lane, but could get up with a competitive run.
• #12 DREAM ROLE (20-1) is a price horse and has solid early pace figures in a race that looks to lack a ton of front running speed.
• #9 BOLTORO (9-2) has back races to be a player in this group.

Selections: 2 – 15- 12- 9

Keeneland- Race 8

Post: 4:44 PM ET; $110k Allowance going 6 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 13

• #12 STROBE (9-5) should improve off the first start and is the top pick. He has to be respected going out for the combination of Cox and Geroux. This one has the top overall power rating in the group.
• #6 MAHAAMEL (4-1) looks to be the class of the field. On paper this one looks the second likeliest winner.
• #4 OVERBORE (10-1) is a price horse and goes out for the Ward barn and gets Rosario in the irons.
• #8 ANGKOR (6-1) has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.

Selections: 12- 6 – 4 – 8

Keeneland- Race 9

Post: 5:16 PM ET; $300k Sycamore S. going 1 1/2 miles on turf; Entries: 16

• #1 ARKLOW (4-1) looks best here. He seems to fit well enough here. This one will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late. He will need a big form reversal though.
• #7 MIRA MISSION (7-2) looks to be another logical player based on speed figures.
• #3 ADMISSION OFFICE (20-1) runs evenly and looks to get a very fair pace scenario here.
• #13 HIGHEST HONORS (8-1) has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
