Saratoga Steeplechase Returns Wednesday (August 3)

The jumpers return to Saratoga. The first race of the card is a steeplechase stakes ahead of 9 thoroughbred races to kick off the 4th week of racing from “The Spa”.
Wednesday Full Card Analysis
Saratoga- Race 1
Post: 1:05 PM ET; $75k Jonathan Kiser Novice S. going 2 1/16 miles on hurdle; Entries: 7
- #1 PERFECT TAPATINO (6-1) gets the top selection. He could be a dangerous threat to take them wire to wire.
- #6 DECISIVE TRIUMPH (9-2) feels like a contender in this spot. He has to be respected going out for the combination of Beecher and Bargary.
- #5 HOWYABUD (5-2) should improve off the first start and wouldn’t be a total surprise here.
- #2 THEOCRAT (10-1) is a price horse that is worth a look in this spot.

Saratoga- Race 2
Post: 1:39 PM ET; $50k Maiden Claiming going 6 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 9
- #8 DOROTHY'S THE BOSS (4-1) is the top pick. She is well bred for this spot and makes sense on speed figures.
- #7 DARN THAT SONG (7-2) appears to be a major player in this race. She has races good enough to beat this group.
- #6 FROSTY INVASION (9-2) could be in with a shot in this race. She seems to fit well enough here on pedigree.
- #101 GLITTERING PRIZE (5-2) feels like a fringe contender in this spot. She should be part of the early pace in this spot.

Saratoga- Race 3
Post: 2:13 PM ET; $60k Claiming going 6 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 7
- #2 PRINTRACK (2-1) looks best here. He has the top overall power rating in the group. This one has to be respected going out for the combination of Rice and Ortiz.
- #5 NEVER EARLY (3-1) appears to be a major player in this race. He seems to fit on class.
- #6 LEDDY (5-2) feels like a fringe contender in this spot. He should be part of the early pace in this spot.
- #3 READY TO MARCH (12-1) is a price horse and isn't without hope. He will be on or near the lead and that’s always dangerous at a price.

Saratoga- Race 4
Post: 2:49 PM ET; $60k Claiming going 1 mile on turf; Entries: 9
- #4 ADELAIDE MISS (5-2) has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts. This one comes into the race in good form.
- #5 GOLDEN VOICE (9-5) could be in with a shot in this race. She classes up well here.
- #3 WAR CANOE (7-2) feels like a fringe contender in this spot. She has a mid pack style that may benefit from a bit of pace up front.
- #6 CHARGE ACCOUNT (4-1) becomes a major play if a pace doesn’t materialize here.

Saratoga- Race 5
Post: 3:21 PM ET; $105k Maiden Special Weight going 5 1/2 furlongs on turf; Entries: 8
- #1 JAVA BUZZ (9-5) is the top pick. He goes out for the Rice barn and gets Prat in the irons.
- #5 SOSUA SUMMER (2-1) should be competitive in this spot. He comes into the race in really good form.
- #6 SUL PHAROAH (8-1) is one that could outrun the odds here.
- #2 UPPER LEVEL (4-1) should improve off the first start. This one has solid early pace figures in a race that looks to lack a ton of front running speed.

Post: 3:55 PM ET; $88k Maiden Special Weight going 1 1/16 miles on turf; Entries: 8
- #7 SMOKIE EYES (9-5) debuts here and looks best here. She goes out for the connections of Clement and Prat.
- #4 DREAM ON CARA (6-1) should improve off the first start and has races good enough to beat this group.
- #1 AMANDA'S FOLLY (8-1) makes the 2nd start and could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end.
- #3 COLLABORATION (7-2) debuts here for Linda Rice. Here runners are usually better 2nd time around, but Ortiz does climb aboard.

Saratoga- Race 7
Post: 4:29 PM ET; $100k Allowance Optional Claiming going 1 mile on dirt; Entries: 6
- #3 TIERGAN (8-5) gets the top selection. He has the top overall power rating in the group.
- #6 BLEWITT (5-2) isn't without hope. This one has races good enough to beat this group.
- #2 DADDY KNOWS (6-1) isn't without hope. He seems to class up well enough here.
- #4 TROUBLESHOOTER (5-1) seems to be running for the minor placings in this contest, but should be in with a chance late.
Selections: 3 – 6 – 2 – 4
Saratoga- Race 8
Post: 5:05 PM ET; $80k Claiming going 7 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 9
- #8 HAGLER (6-1) is the top pick based on the company kept in recent runs.
- #1 SILIPO (8-1) appears to be a major player in this race. He should be sitting in the second tier of runners and looking to make one well timed run at the leaders.
- #5 DOT'S DOLLAR (7-2) should be competitive in this spot. This one may benefit from a hot pace up front.
- #6 SUGAR GRAY LEONARD (6-1) should be competitive in this spot. He has the top overall power rating in the group and fits on figures.
Selections: 8 – 1 – 5 – 6
Saratoga- Race 9
Post: 5:39 PM ET; $120k Allowance Optional Claiming going 1 1/16 miles on turf; Entries: 14
- #1 ROCKY SKY (1-1) looks best here. She goes out for the Brown barn and gets Prat in the irons. She should like the trip.
- #4 POCA MUCHA (6-1) should be competitive in this spot. She makes sense on speed figures.
- #6 BRAMBLE BAY (12-1) is a price horse and could be in with a shot in this race based on the pace projection
- #3 PRINCESS FAWZIA (6-1) feels like a fringe contender based on recent company.

- #11 CATHEDRAL BEACH (7-2) gets the top selection. He could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end.
- #2 HEADS OR TAILS (10-1) is a price horse and feels like a fringe contender in this spot. This one has races good enough to beat this group.
- #9 BRACIOLE (8-1) isn't without hope. He has to be respected going out for the Noda barn.
- #7 YONO (5-1) is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. He makes sense on speed figures.
