Maryland Millions: Saturday Laurel Park Analysis, Selections

Arguably one of the biggest days in Maryland racing happens this Saturday. Laurel Park has a 12 race card. All 12 are stakes including the Maryland Million Classic.

Post: 11:30 AM ET; $50k Maryland Million Turf Starter H. going 1 1/16 miles on turf; Entries: 15

• #12 SAMUI SUNSET (7-2) gets the top selection. This one looks to be the class of the field.
• #6 PRETTY GOOD YEAR (4-1) could be in with a shot in this race. He goes out for the Pino barn and gets Lopez in the irons. This one has the top overall power rating in the group.
• #7 HE'S A SHOOTER (8-1) seems to fit well enough here.
• #4 BELTWAY BOB (12-1) is a price horse and makes sense on speed figures.

• #2 SKY'S NOT FALLING (9-2) feels like a fringe contender in this spot. He projects to sit mid pack and come with one run.

• #7 COCONUT CAKE (2-1) looks to be the class of the field. This one will be rolling late and has a good closing kick that could get the job done here.
• #5 AMPLIO ESQUEMA (8-1) will likely have a lot to do in the lane, but could get up with a competitive run.

• #1 FILLE D'ESPRIT (8-5) could get the right setup in this race. This one will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late.
• #6 WICKED HOT (5-1) makes sense on speed figures. This one is a good bet to hit the board in this type of race.
