Four of the 5 stakes races from Del Mar this weekend will be for 2 year old horses. Two of those races are featured on the Saturday race card.
Full Card Analysis
Last weekend Del Mar was experiencing a pretty strong early speed bias. Players will be wise to watch Friday’s races to see if the track continues to play that way. If so, upgrades should be made to those projecting to run with the track bias.
Del Mar Thoroughbred Club- 1
Race Time: 1:30 PM PT; Distance: 5 1/2 f on dirt; Purse: $42k; Field: 10
- #9 ASIAN MATRIARCH (4-1) is our top choice. She should handle the distance comfortably and poses a threat to take an early lead.
- #2 SUPER ENTICING (8-1) appears as a fringe contender. Well-bred for this race, she’s likely to sit mid-pack and make a late move.
- #1 DREAMING OF HOPE (3-1) debuts here and shouldn’t be underestimated, especially with the Sadler-Hernandez combo.
- #3 PETITE ANGE (8-1) is expected to improve from her previous start and could surprise. She has shown consistency in recent outings.
Selections: 9 – 2 – 1 – 3
