Churchill Downs Saturday: Louisville Lone Non-Preakness Stakes

With much attention on Pimlico Saturday, Churchill Downs will also run a graded stakes. The grade 3 Louisville will be contested on the turf at the site of the Derby.

Churchill Downs- Race 1
Post: 12:45 PM ET; $39k Claiming going 1 1/16 miles on dirt; Entries: 7
- #1 MYOPIC (2-1) gets the top selection. He looks to be the class of the field. This one has really consistent pace figures which should work well in a moderately paced race.
- #4 CELERITY (4-1) isn't without hope. He has been running against some good horses recently. This one is a good bet to hit the board in this type of race.
- #3 PEEKACHO (7-2) seems to fit well enough here.
- #5 BAJAN RUM (5-2) is one who has shown ability going long on the dirt.

Churchill Downs- Race 2
Post: 1:14 PM ET; $54k Claiming going 6 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 6
- #2 BACK TO NORMAL (8-5) is the top pick. He looks to be the class of the field.
- #5 KENTUCKY BOURBON (7-2) could be in with a shot in this race. He makes sense on speed figures. This one has to be respected going out for the combination of Moquett and Leparoux.
- #1 LITTLE FRAPPUCINO (3-1) should be part of the early pace in this spot which should help in this dirt sprint.
- #3 OUR TEAM (4-1) goes out for the Pitts barn and gets Graham in the irons.

Post: 1:43 PM ET; $68k Claiming going 7 1/2 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 7
- #4 NEED SOME MONEY (8-1) looks best here. She shouldn't have trouble with the 7 1/2 furlong distance. This one has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
- #1 PROUD FOOT (5-2) should be competitive in this spot. This one has to be respected going out for the combination of Miller and Morales.
- #5 KLIMT'S MUSE (5-1) appears to be a major player in this race who has races that fit with these runners.
- #7 THE CLUB (3-1) has solid early pace figures in a race that looks to lack a ton of front running speed. The company lines on this one are very solid.

Post: 2:13 PM ET; $120k Maiden Special Weight going 1 mile on turf; Entries: 16
- #12 TIGER TAP (4-1) gets the top selection. She has to be respected going out for the combination of Walsh and Santana. This one seems to fit well enough here.
- #4 CALLIE'S GRIT (5-2) is worth a major look here based on the recent competition.
- #2 MILIEU (6-1) has speed figures that would absolutely win this race. She’s hard to ignore if the 6-1 holds.
- #7 HOLA GATA (6-1) comes into the race in really good form and should be ready to run a big effort in this spot.

Churchill Downs- Race 5
Post: 2:45 PM ET; $54k Claiming going 1 1/16 miles on dirt; Entries: 6
- #1 JUDO (9-5) is the top pick. He has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here. This one has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
- #5 MAC'S TIME (5-2) could be in with a shot in this race. He has to be respected going out for the combination of Romans and Garcia. This one could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end.
- #4 FREEZE POP (7-2) should be sitting in the second tier of runners and looking to make one well timed run at the leaders. This one seems to fit well enough here on recent class.
- #6 ONEPARTICULRHARBOR (12-1) is a price horse and is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. He has solid early pace figures in a race that looks to lack a ton of front running speed.

Churchill Downs- Race 6
Post: 3:18 PM ET; $120k Maiden Special Weight going 5 1/2 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 9
- #2 SASSY WALKER (7-2) should improve off the first start and looks best here. This one has the pedigree to be a major player in this spot and looked really good at first asking.
- #9 MISS ARLINGTON (4-1) has races good enough to beat this group. The pedigree says that this one is in the right spot here.
- #8 PELICAN LANE (5-1) runs evenly and looks to get a very fair pace scenario here. The debut speed figures was really solid and it wouldn’t take much of a step forward to run a winning effort.
- #6 SWANSON LAKE (5-1) goes out for the Mccarthy barn and gets Graham in the irons. This is yet another runner taking to the track for just the 2nd time. A big improvement is definitely in the realm of possibility.

Churchill Downs- Race 7
Post: 3:50 PM ET; $78k Claiming going 6 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 6
- #5 STREET SWAGG (9-5) gets the top selection. He has the top overall power rating in the group. This one runs evenly and looks to get a very fair pace scenario here.
- #3 TIVY (7-2) appears to be a major player in this race. This one has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
- #4 GOLD LUCK (5-1) has run against some good runners and this spot could prove to help bolster the numbers which run a bit short of this group.
- #2 GABE (4-1) is dropping in class and wouldn’t be a total surprise to find the winner’s circle.

Churchill Downs- Race 8
Post: 4:22 PM ET; $127k Allowance going 5 1/2 furlongs on turf; Entries: 16
- #10 SECRET MONEY (3-1) is the top pick. She has races good enough to beat this group. This one has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
- #15 SURE CAN (8-1) appears to be a major player in this race. She has efforts that would absolutely get the job done here. This one has tactical speed and can sit just off the leaders for a stalk and pounce trip.
- #1 WOODBINE WAY (10-1) is a price horse and should be competitive in this spot. She seems to fit well enough here. This one makes sense on speed figures.
- #11 NUMERO SEIS (8-1) is a fair value around the morning line. This one comes into the race in good form.

- #8 BALI DREAMIN (3-1) looks best here. She shouldn't have trouble with the 6 furlong distance. This one has to be respected going out for the combination of Shirer and Arrieta.
- #10 OBRIGADA (4-1) has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
- #7 HARDLY MISCHIEVOUS (7-2) looks to be the class of the field. This one has the top overall power rating in the group.
- #4 MS HAYLEY (8-1) is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. She seems to fit well enough here.
Selections: 8 – 10- 7 – 4
Churchill Downs- Race 10
Post: 5:26 PM ET; $120k Maiden Special Weight going 5 1/2 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 10
- #8 LADY IRENE (9-2) should improve off the first start and gets the top selection. Even without a step forward the debut effort would be good enough here. This one will likely have a lot to do in the lane, but could get up with a competitive run.
- #3 LITTLE HOT MESS (5-1) makes the 2nd career start. She comes into the race in really good form. This one could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end.
- #2 WITH THIS RING (4-1) hit the board in the first effort which is no easy task. This one is a definite factor in the race here.
- #1 COMMENCEMENT (6-1) debuts here and looks respectable in a group that has a lot of lightly raced competitors. She has to be respected going out for the combination of Rodriguez and Garcia.

- #9 ANOTHER MYSTERY (3-1) is the top pick. He has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts. This one has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
- #2 BAY STREET MONEY (7-2) should be competitive in this spot. He makes sense on speed figures. This one shouldn't have trouble with the 1 1/2 mile distance.
- #10 FOREIGN RELATIONS (12-1) is a price horse and could be in with a shot in this race. He should have plenty of stamina to stay the distance. The question will be if there’s enough speed to carry.
- #7 THERAPIST (5-2) looks to be the class of the field. This one has run well at these turf marathon distances before.
