Breeders’ Cup Friday is known as Future Stars Friday. All Breeders’ Cup races on the day are for 2 year olds. The format is meant to highlight the next generation of racing superstars.
Breeders' Cup- Race 1
Post: 11:55 AM ET; $185k Allowance Optional Claiming going 1 1/16 miles on dirt; Entries: 9
- #6 B DAWK (2-1) gets the top selection. He comes into the race in really good form and just looks to be more talented than these.
- #8 OPEN ROAD (3-1) appears to be a major player in this race. He shouldn't have trouble with the 1 1/16 mile distance. This one will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late.
- #4 BUSINESS MODEL (6-1) projects to sit mid pack and come with one run.
- #9 SEARCH ENGINE (5-1) isn't without hope. He has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
Selections: 6 – 8 – 4 – 9
Breeders' Cup- Race 2
Post: 12:30 PM ET; $150k Maiden Special Weight going 7 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 12
- #7 BLACK FOREST (6-1) is the top pick. She looks to be the class of the field.
- #10 AFFIRMATIVE LADY (6-1) should improve off the first start and appears to be a major player in this race. She is well bred for this spot. This one has to be respected going out for the combination of Motion and Velazquez.
- #11 ADIVA (5-1) makes sense on speed figures. This one seems to fit well enough here.
- #6 KLASSY BRIDGETTE (5-1) is likely to take a step forward off the debut effort. She ran really well which isn’t easy at first asking. This one has the pedigree to be a major player in this spot.
Selections: 7 – 10- 11- 6
Breeders' Cup- Race 3
Post: 1:05 PM ET; $160k Allowance going 6 1/2 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 11
- #11 MARSALIS (6-5) looks best here. He goes out for the Asmussen barn and gets Santana in the irons.
- #6 PRO OXIDANT (8-1) appears to be a major player in this race. He shouldn't have trouble with the 6 1/2 furlong distance. This one will likely have a lot to do in the lane, but could get up with a competitive run.
- #1 CALL ME FAST (10-1) is a price horse and appears to be a major player in this race. This one has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
- #10 SEAL BEACH (10-1) is a price horse and should be competitive in this spot. He makes sense on speed figures. This one projects to sit mid pack and come with one run.
Selections: 11- 6 – 1 – 10
Breeders' Cup- Race 4
Post: 1:40 PM ET; $160k Allowance Optional Claiming going 7 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 12
- #12 PROTEGE (4-1) should improve off the first start and gets the top selection. He goes out for the Moquett barn and gets Saez in the irons. This one projects to sit mid pack and come with one charge.
- #9 ARABIAN LION (7-5) goes out second time and appears to be a major player in this race. His debut effort was good enough to beat this group. This one has the top overall power rating in the group.
- #11 TRES SOLES (5-1) ran a very productive first effort and should take a step forward off that one.
- #7 TAP IN FORMATION (10-1) is a price horse and feels like a fringe contender in this spot.
Selections: 12- 9 – 11- 7
Breeders' Cup- Race 5
Post: 2:15 PM ET; $350k Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance S. going 1 5/8 miles on dirt; Entries: 10
- #1 RATTLE N ROLL (5-2) is the top pick. He shouldn't have trouble with the 1 5/8 mile distance.
- #4 HEYWOODS BEACH (4-1) appears to be a major player in this race. He looks to be the class of the field.
- #6 BAL HARBOUR (7-2) should be competitive in this spot. He will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late. This one may benefit from a hot pace up front.
- #3 CUPID'S CLAWS (20-1) is a price horse and could be in with a shot in this race based on the stamina he’s shown in prior races. This one may not win but is a good one to have underneath in exotics.
Selections: 1 – 4 – 6 – 3
Breeders' Cup- Race 6
Post: 3:00 PM ET; $1000k Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint going 5 1/2 furlongs on turf; Entries: 15
- #11 SPEED BOAT BEACH (6-1) looks best here if he can work out a trip. He will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late. This one has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
- #2 LOVE REIGNS (4-1) appears to be a major player in this race. She drew much better than many of the other speeds. This one goes out for Ward who always has them ready to fire.
- #9 SHARP AZA TACK (15-1) is a price horse and appears to be a factor here. He definitely likes to wing it, but most of the speed horses drew to his outside which may mean if he’s fast enough, he can get the lead and try to hang on.
- #7 OXYMORE (8-1) has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts. This one comes into the race in really good form.
Selections: 11- 2 – 9 – 7
Breeders' Cup- Race 7
Post: 3:40 PM ET; $2000k NetJets Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies going 1 1/16 miles on dirt; Entries: 14
- #3 AND TELL ME NOLIES (8-1) gets the top selection. She has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts. This one makes sense on speed figures.
- #10 CHOCOLATE GELATO (7-2) appears to be a major player in this race. She has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here. This one has races good enough to beat this group.
- #2 YOU'RE MY GIRL (10-1) has to be respected going out for the combination of Terranova and Velazquez. This one comes into the race in really good form.
- #8 ATOMICALLY (12-1) is a price horse and feels like a fringe contender in this spot. This one goes out for the Pletcher barn and gets Saez in the irons.
Selections: 3 – 10- 2 – 8
Breeders' Cup- Race 8
Post: 4:20 PM ET; $1000k Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf going 1 mile on turf; Entries: 16
- #3 LAST CALL (20-1) is a price horse and looks like a major upset threat. She shouldn't have trouble with the 1 mile distance. This one has been good at these turf miles.
- #1 COMANCHE COUNTRY (15-1) is another price horse with a shot. She has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts. This one has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
- #2 CAIRO CONSORT (12-1) may benefit from a hot pace up front.
- #4 FREE LOOK (5-1) projects to sit mid pack and come with one run. This one seems to fit well enough here.
Selections: 3 – 1 – 2 – 4
Breeders' Cup- Race 9
Post: 5:00 PM ET; $2000k BetOnline Breeders' Cup Juvenile presented by Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance going 1 1/16 miles on dirt; Entries: 10
- #3 CAVE ROCK (4-5) towers over this field on paper. Weird things can happen in racing, but betting on prayer is a long term losing strategy. Single race wagers may be tough to make money on here, but pairing this one with a price in the previous race may be your best bet to cash on this likeliest Friday winner.
- #10 NATIONAL TREASURE (8-1) goes out for the Baffert barn and gets Velazquez in the irons. This one shouldn't have trouble with the 1 1/16 mile distance.
- #5 VERIFYING (10-1) is a horse that makes a little sense for the minors.
- #4 FORTE (4-1) is in good form, but is just unlucky to run into a beast. The fact that this one will be 2nd choice in the odds makes him a tough value pill to swallow.
Selections: 3 – 10- 5 – 4
Breeders' Cup- Race 10
Post: 5:40 PM ET; $1000k Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf going 1 mile on turf; Entries: 14
- #4 SILVER KNOTT (3-1) looks like a potential monster in this race. Charlie Appleby has been extremely high on this horse the races speak for themselves. On speed figures this won is a deserving favorite.
- #2 PACKS A WAHLOP (6-1) is drawn inside and should get the best of the pace if the favorite didn’t travel well. He has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
- #6 ANDTHEWINNERIS (5-1) appears to be a major player in this race. He seems to fit well enough here.
- #13 MAJOR DUDE (10-1) is a price horse and should be competitive in this spot. He has run against some really good horses and been successful at the turf mile before.
Selections: 4-2 – 6- 13
