The featured race at Del Mar on Sunday is the Eddie Read Stakes. The race looks great for betters with the natural chaos of turf racing paired with a 12 horse field.

Del Mar Thoroughbred Club- Race 1
Post: 2:00 PM PT; $80k Maiden Special Weight going 5 1/2 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 8
- #8 ABELIEFINTHISLIVIN (5-1) should improve off the first start and gets the top selection. The debut was good enough to suggest he fits well against this group. This one should be sitting in the second tier of runners and looking to make one well timed run at the leaders.
- #1 OMNIPRESENT (8-1) debuts here and could be in with a shot in this race. He has the pedigree to be a major player in this spot.
- #3 JACKSTOWN (5-2) is a first time starter that will likely be well prepped. He has to be respected going out for the combination of Baffert and Hernandez.
- #5 GIOVINAZZO (8-1) should improve off the debut effort and is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. This would should be ready to run a career top here.

- #4 ELECTOR (2-1) could be in with a shot in this race. He shouldn't have trouble with the 1 mile distance. This one may also benefit from a hot pace up front.
- #5 AFFABLE (5-2) could be in with a shot in this race. He has been good at the mile distance in the past. This one has the top overall power rating in the group.
- #2 WICKED TRICK (8-1) isn't without hope. The price is right for a horse with proven success running the dirt mile.

- #13 ZOOKEEPER (6-1) should improve off the first start and looks best here. The debut should give this one foundation. This one could be ready to put up a huge effort. He’ll need to from post 13.
- #7 CASTLEKNOCK (12-1) is a price horse and could be in with a shot in this race. He is one of two with more than one start under his belt and still has a lot of upside.
- #14 VALIANCER (3-1) should improve off the first start and is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. He will be rolling late and has a good closing kick that could get the job done here.
- #11 CRYPTOHOLIC (12-1) is a price horse and is probably best further down the mutuel ticket. He comes into the race in really good form. This one got a little foundation in the first start and could step forward here.

- #12 DRIZELLA (10-1) gets the top selection at a fat price. She has to be respected going out for the combination of Hanson and Vazquez. This one has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
- #9 V BUCKS (7-2) feels like a fringe contender in this spot. She looks to be the class of the field.
- #11 CARELESS STAR (15-1) may not be the likeliest winner, but seems like the type that could be able to outrun the odds.
- #4 WHISKEY BLUE (8-1) is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. She projects to sit mid pack and come with one run.

- #7 IN YOUR FACE (5-1) is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. She has races good enough to compete but has had a lot of chances.
- #6 SUPER RENEE (5-1) is a bit interesting in this spot. She should be part of the early pace in this spot and this is a race that is devoid of world beaters. Maybe the best approach is to run and hide on the front end and make someone pass you late.

- #3 STANFORD MAN (4-1) debuts here and should be competitive in this spot. He goes out for the Wong barn and gets Pyfer in the irons.
- #4 DUPLICATION (5-1) is a first time starter and could be competitive in this spot. He has to be respected going out for the combination of Mathis and Frey.
- #1 REEF CITY (8-1) makes his debut here here and is interesting in this race. Bonde and Rispoli team up on this one so he’s worth a look.
