Following a dramatic finish at the U.S. Open, the PGA Tour’s best players are taking on the final signature event on the 2024 calendar, the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut.
Well, with one exception. After seeing a fifth major agonizingly slip from his hands down the stretch at Pinehurst, Rory McIlroy won’t be at this week’s tournament. The world number three will instead next be in action at the Scottish Open, which will take place the week before the British Open.
With McIlroy not in the 71-player field, Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, and Collin Morikawa are the top three favorites to win the Travelers Championship. Schauffele is a previous champion of the event, having won it in 2022 by two strokes over J.T. Poston and Sahith Theegala.
Where is last year’s champion, Keegan Bradley? He sits at +4000, along with Theegala, Brian Harman, and Sepp Straka, who has finished in the top ten in each of the last three signature events.

Travelers Championship Predictions & Picks
Tournament Winner Prediction & Pick: Scottie Scheffler (+425)
Scheffler went into the U.S. Open with the shortest odds to win since 2007, but he barely made the cut and didn’t have a single round of par or better (71-74-71-72, +8) as he finished tied for 41st.
But after finishing outside of the top 25 for the first time since last year’s FedEx St. Jude Championship, the world number one should be back to the Scheffler we have become accustomed to seeing this year. Among his five wins this season are three in signature events (the Arnold Palmer Invitational, RBC Heritage, and Memorial Tournament).
At last year’s Travelers Championship, Scheffler finished tied for fourth, four strokes behind Bradley. He had three excellent rounds, but an even-par 70 on Friday was ultimately too much to overcome.
Sepp Straka to finish in the top 20 (+110) and top 10 (+300)
Straka has had a season that can be described as fascinating, to put it mildly.
- Events: 16
- Missed cuts: 5
- Top ten finishes: 4
- Top five finishes: 3
- FedEx Cup rank: 14th
- PGA Tour money list rank: 18th
Three of Straka’s top-ten finishes have come at the last three signature events, the RBC Heritage (tied for fifth), Wells Fargo Championship (tied for eighth), and Memorial Tournament (tied for fifth). He also finished tied for fifth at the Charles Schwab Challenge last month.
Straka’s history at the Travelers Championship isn’t fantastic—a tie for tenth is his only decent result in five previous appearances—but his recent results in these big events make him a great pick this week.
