Tomorrow morning, Tiger Woods will tee it up at a U.S. Open for the 23rd time in his illustrious career and for the first time since 2020.
When he last took part in a U.S. Open, he missed the cut at Winged Foot after shooting +10 in his two rounds.
It’s been an eventful few years for Tiger, but he is on course to play in all four majors for the first time since 2019. If the 15-time major winner tees it up at next month’s British Open, he will participate in all four majors for the first time since the year he shocked the world by winning the Masters for the fifth time.
Is there any chance that he could shock the world this week? The group of U.S. Open favorites does not include Tiger, but when asked about his chances to contend, he expressed confidence in his ability to do so.
We’ll find out if that confidence translates to actual contention, but he has a long way to go to do so, based on his results thus far this year. In the first two majors of 2024, Tiger finished 60th at Augusta and missed the cut at the PGA Championship.
Even though he isn’t expected to be in the mix on Sunday, Tiger remains a major draw in any tournament he plays.
Therefore, it is worthwhile to take a look at his odds for the tournament, as many people will be betting on him even if the percentages don’t favor receiving a return on their investments.
