The 2022 PGA Championship is less than a day away and a lot of eyes will be watching to see how golfing legend Tiger Woods will perform at the Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Woods made his long-awaited return to the PGA TOUR last month for the Masters Tournament following his 2021 car accident. Things didn’t go his way as he placed 47th in Augusta, but his appearance alone was a big step for him to get back into the swing of things.
Although there isn’t a guarantee of how Woods will perform this week, the latest betting odds from BetOnline Sportsbook help paint a picture of what can unfold.
Here’s a look at Woods’ status heading into the 2022 PGA Championship, as well as if there are any betting markets worth putting money on.
Is Tiger Woods Going to Play in the 2022 PGA Championship?
Yes, all signs point to Woods playing in the PGA Championship this week.
The 46-year-old may have been a bit rusty at the 2022 Masters, but he believes that he can seriously compete in Tulsa this week. When asked about his ability to contend at the PGA Championship, the NY Post reported that Woods had the following to say:
“I feel like I can, definitely. I just have to go out there and do it. I have to do my work. Starts on Thursday and I’ll be ready.”
Woods also added that he’s physically feeling much better now than he was ahead of the Masters. He was disappointed that he couldn’t perform as well as he wanted to win another green jacket, leading to him being ready for a stronger effort beginning on Tuesday.
The fact of the matter is that golf is a stronger sport when Woods is healthy and competing. He may not be in his prime anymore, but he’s still one of the most recognizable faces on the PGA TOUR.
Does Woods have a shot at winning this week? Nobody thought Phil Mickelson did last year and look how he shocked the world. With everything Woods has accomplished over his career, winning the PGA Championship in 2022 would be one of the many impressive storylines.
Expectations should be tempered, but don’t count Woods out until the final round is over.

Is Tiger Woods Worth Betting On This Week?
A lot of bettors are going to wonder if betting on Tiger Woods is worth it this week. After all, his Masters performance didn’t exactly yield positive results.
However, the simple answer is that Woods is absolutely worth betting on.
For starters, you should have confidence in betting on Woods to make the cut at the 2022 PGA Championship at -118 odds. He’s entered the tournament 21 times over his career, making the cut on 17 of those occasions.
Woods might be getting older, but he also placed second in the 2018 edition of the event. That wasn’t too long ago and although he might not have a similar finish, it shows that he's still capable of having a noteworthy performance.
It’s tough to recommend putting money down on Woods to win the entire tournament, though. He might be a four-time champion and even won it all the last time the PGA Championship was at Southern Hills in 2007, but he still must prove that his injury woes are behind him.
Instead, I’m comfortable enough to recommend putting money down on a Woods top-30 finish at +125 odds. Does it bring the most value? No, but it’s hard to imagine Woods finishing top 20 or better given everything that’s happened to him over the last 15 months.
A top-30 finish is certainly doable and he’s already done it 13 times over his illustrious career. He feels good and that should give his confidence a boost, hopefully making some bettors happy in the process.
