Yet another PGA Tour signature event is in the books, and now it’s time to focus on the second major of the season, the PGA Championship.
This week, Wells Fargo Championship winner Rory McIlroy, Masters champion—and new dad—Scottie Scheffler, reigning PGA Championship winner Brooks Koepka, and many more will be vying for the Wanamaker Trophy and a place in the record books at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky.
Scheffler missed last week’s Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow as he and his wife were awaiting the birth of their first child. With that celebratory moment in the books, Scheffler will look to add another one this week. He hasn’t played since winning the RBC Heritage last month, but he has four wins and a runner-up finish in his last five tournaments.
That run includes a four-stroke victory at the Masters last month, as he won at Augusta for the second time in three years.
Will Scheffler become the first golfer to win the first two majors of the year since Jordan Spieth in 2015? He’s firmly out in front of the field as the favorite to win the PGA Championship, but he will face some stiff competition in his quest to do so.

Who Are the Favorites to Win the 2024 PGA Championship?
Scottie Scheffler (+475)
For the better part of a year, Scheffler was unable to find a way to win despite racking up high finishes. Now that he has started winning again, the only person that may be able to beat him currently is himself, which he did in his runner-up finish at the Valero Texas Open.
Rory McIlroy (+800)
McIlroy hasn’t won a major title since the 2014 PGA Championship, but he enters this year’s tournament in the right form at the right time.
He didn’t have the best of starts to his season, but after teaming up with Shane Lowry to win the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, he shined on Sunday at Quail Hollow with a 6-under 65 to see off 54-hole leader Schauffele by five shots.
Brooks Koepka (+1400)
Koepka is aiming to become only the fourth golfer to win the PGA Championship four or more times, joining five-time winners Jack Nicklaus and Walter Hagen and four-time winner Tiger Woods. He finished tied for 45th at Augusta, but he has finished in the top ten in 46.2% (18 of 39) of his major appearances.
Xander Schauffele (+1400)
Schauffele was in a good position to earn his first PGA Tour win since July 2022, but while McIlroy took control on Sunday at Quail Hollow, Schauffele faltered and managed only an even-par 71.
Still, he continues to knock on the door. Will he break it down this week to win his first major title? His runner-up finish was his fifth top five in what has been a solid season thus far.
Jon Rahm (+1500)
Rahm has yet to pick up a win since making the move to LIV Golf, but he has finished in the top ten in all seven events. The two-time major winner will be looking for a much better showing than he had at Augusta, where he finished tied for 45th and shot over par in each round.
