Xander Schauffele was successful over the weekend in capturing a victory at the Travelers Championship. Now, PGA fans are shifting their attention to the next stop on the tour’s schedule: the 2022 John Deere Classic.
Held annually since 1971 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois, the John Deere Classic offers golfers the opportunity to gain momentum ahead of the Open Championship. This year’s event takes place from Thursday, June 30 to Sunday, July 3.
Lucas Glover surprised people last year when he won the tournament for the first time, finishing two strokes ahead of runners-up Ryan Moore and Kevin Na. Only time will tell who’ll be victorious this time around.
Fortunately, BetOnline Sportsbook’s latest odds help shed some light on who’ll emerge as this year’s John Deere Classic winner.

Best Bets for the 2022 John Deere Classic
Webb Simpson (+1000)
This year’s John Deere Classic is missing most of the top golfers, leading to Webb Simpson being the tournament favorite. Having said that, there’s nothing wrong with putting some money on him.
The 36-year-old veteran golfer has been solid at times on the 2022 PGA TOUR, making the cut in 11 out of his 15 outings and finishing inside of the top 25 on four separate occasions. Most recently, he placed T-13 at the Travelers Championship, shooting a 69 or better in each of the first three rounds.
When it comes to the John Deere Classic, Simpson has competed at TPC Deere Run three times. He hasn’t had much success at the event, though, finished 21st in 2010 while placing 39th or worse in his other two appearances.
Though Simpson might not seem like the flashiest option, he’s still the favorite for a reason. With such a weak field around him, there’s a real chance that he could win his first tournament since June 2020.
Jason Day (+2200)
Again, Jason Day likely isn’t someone you’d normally go with to win a PGA event. However, with few credible options this week, he’s one of the better picks to win the 2022 John Deere Classic.
Day hasn’t seen much success this season, but he does have a pair of top-15 finishes in his last six outings. His best performance of the season came at the QBE Shootout. Even though it was an unofficial event, the 34-year-old Australian still impressed by finishing T-3.
Day hasn’t competed at the John Deere Classic since 2011 when he placed 68th. The good news is that he recorded back-to-back 15th-place showings in 2009 and 2010, meaning that he’s proven that he can have some success as far as TPC Deere Run is concerned.
After failing to make the cut at the Travelers Championship, Day could use a solid showing to turn his fortunes around. What better way of doing that than to win this week’s tournament in Silvis?
Sahith Theegala Top 5 (+500)
Sahith Theegala isn’t a name that most casual golf fans will know, but that could change in the near future. The 24-year-old is riding a momentum wave that could see him grab some attention at the John Deere Classic.
Theegala is likely feeling great after finishing T-2 at the Travelers Championship over the weekend. That performance came just three weeks after a T-5 showing at the Memorial Tournament.
Though Theegala has only cracked the top 25 eight times in 20 tournaments this season, five of those outings resulted in top-10 finishes. Needless to say, he’s more than capable of surprising people.
Taking into account that he’s made the top five twice in June, another finish like that isn’t out of the question for Teegala this week.
Lucas Glover Top 10 (+600)
It’s always tough to rule out former champions, which is why Lucas Glover is a viable option to see a top-10 finish this week.
Glover has actually had a decent amount of success at TPC Deere Run. The 42-year-old has entered the John Deere Classic 12 times over his career, finishing inside of the top 25 on five occasions.
Aside from his 2021 victory, Glover placed 10th in 2020, 25th in 2019, 15th in 2016 and 11th in 2013. Considering how recent some of those performances were, it’s easy to have faith in Glover doing it again.
Had Glover been playing well on the 2022 PGA TOUR, I might’ve had faith in a better finish. However, he’s made the top 25 just once in his last eight outings, so it’s better to temper expectations. Besides, there’s still plenty of value to be had with a top-10 finish at +600.
