The second golf major of the year is now in the books, and we can already start looking forward to next month’s U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2. In the meantime, the PGA Tour calendar ticks over to another week, which will see a strong field take part in the invitation-only Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.
PGA Championship winner Xander Schauffele will have a well-earned week off this week following his thrilling win at Valhalla, but this week’s field is full of notable names.
Leading the way is world number one Scottie Scheffler, fresh off a wild stretch on and off of the course. It included the birth of his first child, three rounds of 67 or better at the PGA Championship, his first over-par round in 2024, and an arrest that led to a mugshot, multiple charges, a short stint and stretching in a cell prior to his second round on Friday, and a top-ten finish in Louisville.
Also in the Charles Schwab Challenge field are five other golfers who joined Scheffler in the top 10 at the PGA Championship (Collin Morikawa, Thomas Detry, Justin Rose, Billy Horschel, and Robert MacIntyre), as well as the likes of Jordan Spieth, Max Homa, and Tony Finau.
Will Scheffler pick up his fifth win of the season and cross the $20 million mark for the second straight season? He is a heavy favorite ahead of Morikawa, Spirth, and Homa.

Charles Schwab Challenge Predictions & Picks
After seeing a lot of lower scores at the PGA Championship, that might not be the case this week. In 2023, Emiliano Grillo (the tournament winner) and Adam Schenk (the runner-up, who lost to Grillo in a playoff) finished at -8, one stroke ahead of Scheffler. In 2022, Scheffler and tournament winner Sam Burns finished at -9.
Tournament Winner Prediction & Pick: Scottie Scheffler (+300)
Scheffler came close in 2022 and 2023, but the third attempt at going for the win will be the charm.
He had a rather dramatic week last week but still found a way to land in the top ten for the ninth straight tournament and tenth time in 11 tournaments this season. That shows just how good he is at the moment.
He might get a stiff challenge from a strong cast of contenders, but expect him to win for the fifth time in seven tournaments, which will take him over the $20 million mark in just a dozen 2024 events.
