After the final major of the golf season produced a surprise winner, the PGA Tour’s focus is back stateside this week for the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities in Minnesota.
On Sunday, Brian Harman, who hadn’t won since 2017, wrapped up a six-stroke win at the British Open. Harman’s win at Royal Liverpool made him the second straight unexpected major winner, following Wyndham Clark’s win at the U.S. Open last month.
We won’t see Harman in action this week, but could another fellow University of Georgia alum finish atop the 3M Open leaderboard? Before getting to predictions and picks for the tournament, here’s a look at the odds, courtesy of Bovada.

3M Open Predictions and Picks
Tournament Winner Pick: Sepp Straka (+2500)
Harman wasn’t the only former Bulldog who had a week to remember at Royal Liverpool.
Along with Jason Day, Tom Kim, and Jon Rahm, Straka finished tied for second behind Harman. It was his best finish in a major, besting his seventh-place finish at this year’s PGA Championship.
It was also his second impressive performance this month, following his win at the John Deere Classic.
Straka entered this month with one career PGA Tour win, which came at last year’s Honda Classic. But with the way that he has played in his last couple of tournaments, I love his chances to end the month with a third career win.
Other Tournament Picks
The odds for these picks are from BetUS, which has a wide variety of 3M Open betting markets.
There, you can also get some great odds on Straka to finish in the top five (+600), top ten (+300), and top 20 (+145).
Cameron Young to finish in the top 10 (+200)
You typically don’t get value this good for the tournament favorite to finish in the top 10. For example, at the Memorial Tournament, favorite Scottie Scheffler was -145 to finish in the top ten.
So, even though Young isn’t my pick to win the 3M Open, I’m not passing up outstanding value for him to still have a solid week.
Young hasn’t had quite the success that he might have wanted to this season, but things appear to be picking up as the FedEx Cup playoffs approach. After finishing tied for sixth at the John Deere Classic, he finished tied for eighth at the British Open.
Hideki Matsuyama to finish in the top 20 (+115)
Here is another spot where there is exceptional value for one of the tournament favorites. As with Young, this season hasn’t been fantastic for Matsuyama, who has finished in the top five only once and is currently 54th in the FedEx Cup points standings.
But he has been in the top 20 three times in his last five tournaments, coming in tied for 16th at the Rocket Mortgage Classic and finishing tied for 13th at the Travelers Championship and British Open.
Emiliano Grillo to finish in the top five (+600)
There’s also excellent value on Grillo to finish in the top ten (+300) and top 20 (+145), but I’m rolling with a higher risk, higher-reward play on him here.
Grillo’s results this season have been all over the place. He won the Charles Schwab Challenge in May and scored some nice paydays at the RBC Heritage (tied for seventh) and British Open (tied for sixth). But he has also missed seven cuts, including the John Deere Classic most recently.
I think we’ll see the good Grillo at TPC Twin Cities, where he finished tied for second behind Tony Finau last year.
Grillo might find some extra motivation from both his British Open performance and his missed opportunity at the 2022 3M Open. Last year, he had five birdies in the final round, but his chances for Sunday success were hurt by a triple bogey on the seventh.
