It seems like the 2022 Canadian Football League season only started yesterday, however, we’re already set to begin Week 8 of the campaign on Thursday. It’s going to be another exciting slate of four games for CFL fans across North America.
Thursday’s game involves a clash between the Montreal Alouettes (2-4) and Hamilton Tiger-Cats (1-5) at 7:30 p.m. ET. The BC Lions (4-1) will then travel to face the Saskatchewan Roughriders (4-3) at 9 p.m. ET on Friday.
The weekend’s action begins on Saturday with a Winnipeg Blue Bombers (7-0) vs. Calgary Stampeders (4-1) collision at 7 p.m. ET. The Ottawa RedBlacks (0-6) then look for their first victory over the year in a road tilt against the Toronto Argonauts at 5 p.m. ET on Sunday.
The Edmonton Elks get to rest this week as they’re the only team with a bye week.
Here’s a look at BetOnline Sportsbook’s odds for the CFL Week 8 matchups, as well as a prediction for each game.

CFL Week 8 Predictions and Picks
Montreal Alouettes vs. Hamilton Tiger-Cats Betting Odds and Prediction
- Spread: Montreal Alouettes +3 (-110), Hamilton Tiger-Cats -3 (-110)
- Total: OVER 49 (-110), UNDER 49 (-110)
- Moneyline: Montreal Alouettes +125, Hamilton Tiger-Cats -145
Odds are via BetOnline Sportsbook.
The Alouettes’ Week 7 tilt against the RedBlacks was a back-and-forth affair, resulting in a 40-33 victory for Montreal. The Alouettes now look to win two straight games for the first time this season, hoping that quarterback Trevor Harris can build off of last week’s 341-yard, two-touchdown performance.
While the Tiger-Cats have one of the better defenses in the East Division, their offense needs work. Hamilton is averaging only 19.5 points per game, which is at the absolute bottom of the CFL. Unless the Tiger-Cats get off to a hot start, I could see the Alouettes pulling off an upset.
Prediction: Alouettes 25, Tiger-Cats 17
Best Bet: Alouettes ML (+125)
BC Lions vs. Saskatchewan Roughriders Betting Odds and Prediction
- Spread: BC Lions -1.5 (-110), Saskatchewan Roughriders +1.5 (-110)
- Total: OVER 49 (-110), UNDER 49 (-110)
- Moneyline: BC Lions -135, Saskatchewan Roughriders +110
Odds are via BetOnline Sportsbook.
The Lions enter their Week 8 CFL matchup with momentum on their side following a 17-12 victory over the Tiger-Cats last week. While BC has the best offense in the league this season, it was its defense that got the job done last week, led by linebacker Ben Hladik and his six tackles and a special teams tackle.
After opening the 2022 season with a 4-1 record, the Roughriders have now lost back-to-back contests. Both losses came at the hands of the Argonauts, who outscored Saskatchewan, 20-6 in the second half of Toronto’s 31-21 victory over the Roughriders in Week 7.
The Lions have been one of the best teams this year and I don’t expect them to lose to the Roughriders.
Prediction: Lions 30, Roughriders 25
Best Bet: Lions -1.5 (-110)
Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs. Calgary Stampeders Betting Odds and Prediction
- Spread: Winnipeg Blue Bombers -1.5 (+105), Calgary Stampeders +1.5 (-125)
- Total: OVER 46.5 (-110), UNDER 46.5 (-110)
- Moneyline: Winnipeg Blue Bombers -110, Calgary Stampeders -110
Odds are via BetOnline Sportsbook.
Seven weeks have passed and no CFL team has been able to defeat the Blue Bombers. Winnipeg notched its seventh straight win with a 24-10 win over the Elks last week. Wideout Dalton Schoen led the way with 146 yards and a touchdown on four catches, however, QB Zach Collaros must be better after completing just 43.8% of his passes for 188 yards and two TDs to two interceptions.
The Stampeders were on a bye last week, making it interesting to see how they begin this matchup. Calgary had its own undefeated streak snapped by Winnipeg when they met in Week 6, leaving time to tell if things will be different this time around.
As great as the Stampeders have been, the Blue Bombers proved that they could handle them last time and I expect that to be the case again.
Prediction: Blue Bombers 33, Stampeders 31
Best Bet: Blue Bombers -1.5 (+105)
Ottawa RedBlacks vs. Toronto Argonauts Betting Odds and Prediction
- Spread: Ottawa RedBlacks +5.5 (-110), Toronto Argonauts -5.5 (-110)
- Total: OVER 47.5 (-110), UNDER 47.5 (-110)
- Moneyline: Ottawa RedBlacks +190, Toronto Argonauts -230
Odds are via BetOnline Sportsbook.
No matter what they do, the RedBlacks cannot catch a break. They’re the sole winless CFL team at this point following last week’s loss to the Alouettes. Even though Ottawa is the biggest underdog of the week, the RedBlacks did defeat the Argonauts in the preseason. Though exhibition games mean nothing, it shows that they should be able to put up a fight.
On the other hand, the Argonauts have now won back-to-back games for the first time in 2022 with their two straight victories over the Roughriders. Toronto scored 30-plus points in both of those matchups, which bodes well against an Ottawa defense surrendering 27.5 points per game — third-worst in the CFL.
Considering that the RedBlacks haven’t given fans much to be excited about, back the Argos here.
Prediction: Argonauts 32, RedBlacks 21
Best Bet: Over 47.5 Points (-110)
