Week 4 of the 2022 Canadian Football League season has come and gone, leaving three undefeated teams. Only time will tell if the trio can keep its perfect record as Week 5 of the CFL campaign is set to begin in just a few days.
The action begins on Thursday as the Edmonton Elks play host to the Calgary Stampeders at 9 p.m. ET. On Friday, the Ottawa RedBlacks will travel to Regina to take on the Saskatchewan Roughriders at 9:30 p.m. ET.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers and BC Lions will then go head-to-head in a West Coast clash at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday.
Rather than the usual four games, there are only three CFL contests in Week 5. The Montreal Alouettes, Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Toronto Argonauts are all on bye week.
Here’s a look at BetOnline Sportsbook’s odds for the CFL Week 5 matchups, as well as a prediction for each game.

CFL Week 5 Predictions and Picks
Calgary Stampeders vs. Edmonton Elks Betting Odds and Prediction
- Spread: Calgary Stampeders -3.5 (-110), Edmonton Elks +3.5 (-110)
- Total: OVER 51 (-110), UNDER 51 (-110)
- Moneyline: Calgary Stampeders -180, Edmonton Elks +155
Odds are via BetOnline Sportsbook.
The Stampeders open up the week as the 3.5-point favorites over the Elks. Calgary is coming off a restful bye week, looking to pick up from where the team left off. The Stampeders scored a 30-23 victory over the Elks in Calgary just two weeks ago, leaving time to tell if lightning can strike twice.
On the other hand, the Elks are buzzing after nabbing their first win of the 2022 CFL season last week, edging out the Tiger-Cats, 29-25. It was a solid team effort, but it’ll be tough to replicate that against the Stampeders, who already beat Edmonton once this season.
Despite the optimism that Elks fans are feeling after last week, the Stampeders proved to already have their number once and it wouldn’t be a shock if Calgary remained undefeated after Thursday.
Prediction: Stampeders 32, Elks 25
Best Bet: Stampeders -3.5 (-110)
Ottawa RedBlacks vs. Saskatchewan Roughriders Betting Odds and Prediction
- Spread: Ottawa RedBlacks +7 (-110), Saskatchewan Roughriders -7 (-110)
- Total: OVER 45.5 (-110), UNDER 45.5 (-110)
- Moneyline: Ottawa RedBlacks +260, Saskatchewan Roughriders -320
Odds are via BetOnline Sportsbook.
The biggest underdogs of the week, the RedBlacks will need a huge performance to upset the Roughriders. Ottawa is one of two remaining winless teams and is averaging just 20 points per game — worst in the CFL. Only one RedBlacks pass-catcher had more than 24 receiving yards against the Lions last week, so it’ll be interesting to see if the team steps up in Saskatchewan.
The Roughriders suffered their first loss of the season in Week 3 but managed to rebound nicely with a 41-20 win over the Alouettes on Saturday. Running back Jamal Morrow racked up 103 rushing yards and a touchdown on 16 carries in the victory. There’s a good chance that he can have a repeat performance against an Ottawa defense that’s giving up 105 rushing yards per game (No. 7).
Now that the Roughriders are back on track, expect them to cruise to a victory over the lowly RedBlacks.
Prediction: Roughriders 29, RedBlacks 20
Best Bet: Over 45.5 Points (-110)
Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs. BC Lions Betting Odds and Prediction
- Spread: Winnipeg Blue Bombers +2.5 (-110), BC Lions -2.5 (-110)
- Total: OVER 48.5 (-110), UNDER 48.5 (-110)
- Moneyline: Winnipeg Blue Bombers +120, BC Lions -140
Odds are via BetOnline Sportsbook.
In what’s likely the CFL game of the week, the Blue Bombers look to remain the best team in the league, entering with a 4-0 record. Last year’s Grey Cup champions nearly suffered their first defeat to the Argonauts last week, but a missed last-second field goal by Toronto kept Winnipeg’s flawless record alive.
It’s far from surprising to see the Lions as the home favorites over the Blue Bombers on Saturday night. The Lions’ offense was on full display in their 34-31 victory over the RedBlacks last week, improving their overall record to 3-0. It’s also safe to say that no team has come close to matching BC’s offense, which is averaging a whopping 45.7 points per game.
This is definitely one of those close matchups that could go either way. With how close the Blue Bombers came to losing to the Argonauts last week, I could see the Lions sneaking away with the victory due to some home-crowd momentum.
Prediction: Lions 29, Blue Bombers 26
Best Bet: Over 48.5 Points (-110)
