Katie Taylor vs Karen Elizabeth Carabajal Boxing History
As mentioned before, Katie Taylor has yet to lose a fight in her six-year career. A former Olympic gold medalist, the 36-year-old veteran has won 21 straight fights, including the last eight by some form of decision.
Her most recent clash took place at Madison Square Garden when she faced Amanda Serrano in April. Serrano had won 28 fights in a row leading up to that collision, but clear the reigning champion was too much to handle. Taylor eventually emerged as the split decision winner after 10 gruelling rounds.
Now, Taylor looks to pick up where she left off half a year later. She’s widely viewed as one of the best women’s boxers of all time, so only time will tell if she’s ready to continue her dominance overseas this weekend.
Meanwhile, it’s important not to forget that Karen Elizabeth Carabajal is also undefeated in her own boxing career. Though she doesn’t have the same career as her opponent, the Argentinian boxer is 19-0, ranking as one of the better boxers in her country.
Like Taylor, Carabajal has a knack for going the distance. Seventeen of her 19 victories have come by decision, including when she unanimously defeated Lorena Edith Agoutborde in her last bout on Apr. 10, 2022.
Having said that, Carabajal hasn’t faced an opponent like Taylor yet. This night will be the biggest night of the former’s career, making it interesting to see if she’s ready for the challenge.
A victory over Taylor could catapult Carabajal to superstardom. The odds are against here, but there’s a reason why you can never say never in professional sports.
Taylor vs Carabajal Prediction and Best Bets
Even if upsets happen in sports, it’s hard to imagine one occurring this weekend. Taylor is one of the all-time greats for a reason and she’s the heavy unanimous favorite across each of the highlighted sportsbooks.
Just to get a better understanding of how one-sided this tilt is, Taylor’s best odds to win sit at -3335 on BetUS, translating to an implied probability of 97.1%. Those odds are just too good to ignore.
As great as Carabajal has been, she’s going to get a real dose of reality when she faces Taylor in front of a raucous London crowd. The champion might be from Bray, County Wicklow, Ireland, but this is essentially a homecoming for her as the majority of her fights have taken place in the United Kingdom.
Nevertheless, there isn’t much value to be had by taking Taylor as the outright winner. Instead, I’d recommend taking her to win by decision at -260 odds on BetOnline Sportsbook. After all, 71.4% of Taylor’s fights have ended by decision, whereas 89.5% of Carabajal’s bouts have gone the distance.
At the end of the day, Taylor likely won’t break a sweat this weekend.
