Boxing fans around the world are buzzing with excitement this week. After all, Dmitry Bivol will be defending his WBA (Super) light-heavyweight championship against Gilberto Ramirez at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on Saturday, Nov. 5.
Bivol originally wanted to face Joshua Buatsi in his next fight, but WBA demanded that he make a mandatory defense against Ramirez instead. The fight was made official back in August and the anticipation for the collision has only grown over the last few months.
Can Bivol continue his undefeated streak with a victory at the Etihad Arena? Or will Ramirez — a former super middleweight champion — get the last laugh with an upset win?
There’s a lot of information to take in ahead of the upcoming Dmitry Bivol vs Gilberto Ramirez tilt — especially from a betting perspective. Fortunately, Betting News has gathered the latest boxing odds from the top sportsbooks, as well as having made a prediction for the upcoming boxing match.

Dmitry Bivol vs Gilberto Ramirez Boxing History
Dmitry Bivol has been a force to be reckoned with for as long as most boxing fans can remember. The 31-year-old Russian has beaten every single opponent placed in front of him, going 20-0 with 11 knockout victories, along with nine wins by decision.
Bivol also has a ton of momentum on his side due to his already having nine successful light-heavyweight championship defenses. He’s beaten names like Canelo Alvarez, Umar Salamov and Lenin Castillo over that span, further proving his in-ring dominance.
Having said that, Gilberto Ramirez has also had quite a storied career. The former WBO super middleweight champion is also undefeated, having gone 44-0 across his 13-year career.
Ramirez has also earned a reputation for being somewhat of a knockout artist. Thirty of his 44 all-time wins have come by KO/TKO and he’s also knocked out each of his last four opponents with a pair of victories coming in the fourth round while the other two occurred in the 10th frame.
Even Bivol has respect for what Ramirez has accomplished. The former told Boxing Scene earlier this week that he’s anticipating a hard-fought battle in Abu Dhabi this weekend.
“It will be a great fight because we both want to win. We both don’t know what losing is, and when people are well matched it’s an amazing fight.” — Dmitry Bivol on his upcoming fight with Gilberto Ramirez
Bivol is right: both fighters’ undefeated streak makes this a must-watch event. Hopefully, it can live up to the hype.
Bivol vs Ramirez Prediction and Best Bets
Even though both fighters are undefeated, only one can emerge as the victor on Saturday. Keeping that in mind, I’m backing Bivol to retain his championship with a win over Ramirez.
The fact is that Bivol has built his undefeated streak up by beating stiffer competition than Ramirez has faced. It’s still going to be a tough, hard-hitting battle, but there’s a reason why it’s Bivol who’s the overwhelming -550 favorite (implied probability of 84.6%) for oddsmakers like BetOnline Sportsbook.
Having said that, there isn’t a ton of value in going with Bivol as the outright winner unless you’re wagering a lot of money. Since he hasn’t recorded a knockout victory in four years, I’m taking Bivol to defeat Ramirez by decision at -185 odds as the best bet.
After all, each of Bivol’s last seven fights has headed to the judges’ table. With BetOnline Sportsbook also favoring the fight to go the distance at -280 odds, taking the champion to retain by decision is a smart bet to make.
