We have a dog fight on our hands if I’ve ever seen one. The Florida Panthers will play the New York Rangers tonight at Madison Square Garden. The last time these 2 teams played, the Panthers won the game 4-2.
Florida is coming into this game on a 3-game losing streak. They are 2nd in the Atlantic Division and 4th in the Eastern Conference, sitting just 2 points behind the Rangers who are 2nd in the conference.
On the year, the Panthers are 24-9-2 on the road which is more than solid. They are 6-4-0 in their last 10 games, so you can see this skid cooled them off.
The Panthers have a buzzing offense. Led by guys like Matthew Tkachuk and Sam Reinhart, this teams can fire the puck. They lead the league in shots on goal per game (33.9).
Another reason for their success this year is their defense. Florida ranks 2nd in goals allowed (2.42) and shots on goal allowed per game (27.8). Their stingy defense really gives their offense chances to make plays.
Goalie Sergi Bobrovsky is confirmed to get the start. He has a record of 32-15-2 with a 2.37 GAA and a .916 save percentage. Bob is putting up some of the best numbers in the league. This is coming off a year where he helped lead his team to the cup final.
Will the Rangers continue their success tonight on home ice?
It’s been a fun year if you’re a Rangers fan. They have been dominating all season and are showing no signs of slowing down. I see this game as another one for them to gain more points on.
This is a huge game for both teams as they are at the tops on the standings. New York definitely had the edge at home, in my opinion. They have a 24.9-0 record at home and are coming off a big win vs the Bruins in Boston.
New York doesn’t pepper the net like the Panthers, but they do make their shots count. They rank 8th in the league for shooting percentage at 10.8%. The team is also averaging 3.36 goals per game, ranking 9th.
The Rangers aren’t as good on defense as the Panthers, but they can hold their own. They rank 6th in the league for goals allowed (2.69) and 9th in the league for shots on goal allowed (29.4).
Goalie Igor Shesterkin will be in net for the Rangers. He has a 29-15-2 record with a 2.60 GAA and a .912 save percentage. Shesterkin is historically very good at home. He is currently 7-3-0 in his last 10 games at home.

I find it kind of crazy that the Rangers aren’t favored on the Puck Line. The sportsbooks are really giving Bobrovsky his respect in this game because it is the only thing I can think of.
The Rangers and Panthers match up very evenly. Panthers are a good road team and the Rangers are a good home team. I have to give the edge to the home team here with a just as good goalie.
Sportsbooks did put the game as a coin flip on the MoneyLine. We are getting a great number for the team that is arguable leading the toughest division in the league.
We’re taking the Rangers here to the moon. I think they come out looking great after coming off a big win against another powerhouse of a team.
Nugget: Igor Shesterkin O27.5 saves. The Panthers are going to absolutely pepper him and should have minimum 30 shots on goal. This number is a great spot for the volume he sees tonight.
